Thought I'd pass along some interesting information.

I placed the order for my Avalanche on Saturday February 22nd (the dealer placed the order with Chevy the same day). Tonight I called the dealer, and found out that my truck was built and shipped on March 6th. That's only 12 calendar days (less than 2 weeks) from the date of my order!

Needless to say I was VERY surprised, since I ordered a WBH Z71 and was not optimistic on a quick delivery. I'm hoping to have the truck within 2 weeks... shipping will probably take longer than it took for the factory to build it!

I'm also excited since I will still get the $4000 rebate ($3000 Avalanche plus $1000 GM loyalty), which I wasn't sure would still be around once the Av finally arrived. Plus $450 upromise, my GM points, $400 below invoice... I'm happy with the deal ;D

Wow!!! I guess when sales are slower, build-to-orders come out really quick!

I wish I could go out and order a new '03.....

Geezzz!! Mine took 4 months! Although it was in the first order of the 2003's and it was being sent up to Canada, so that may account for some of the delay.

So when do you get yours back from the guy doing the conversion?

Man thats great - I know you will be counting the hours. I can feel the excitement with you - when one of us gets one we all get one ;) Congrats and get some pics and get out and join a cruise! :D

I went down to see them last week and they have found some things that are particular to the 2003's over the 2002's and so they have to make some new parts that they haven't got moulds for... so this will take a bit longer than they expected. The best guestimate for completion is now about April 25th. They expect to start the conversion about the begining of April.

The conversion photos will be posted as soon as it starts. (y)

Congrats Limerick! (y) Sounds like you got a great deal. Can't wait to see some pics when you get it.

WOW THAT WAS QUICK!

I have DSOed (Dealer Special Ordered) as few cars and 6 weeks was the fastest I ever recieved one. ?And that was when the factory was up and running.

I will finally be able to join in on the GTG for PA/NJ! Don't think I'll be doing paintball ;)

Excellent! Maybe if the State College GTG works out or something else closer then.

Over in the "who's from PA" thread, I also proposed a canoeing/picnic GTG at Tuscarora State Park, for when we get into warmer weather (canoe concession opens in June). That's near Tamaqua. We'll see what everyone is interested in for the short-term though.

Yep, they are building the Avalanche quickly. I ordered mine on February 4, and was driving it on February 25! (y) Three weeks from order placement to delivery. I order a lot of vehicles from GM, and the quickest I ever received a car before the Avalanche was 6 weeks, but most vehicles took around three months.

My '03 was ordered & delivered to the dealership in 4 weeks.

It was a long 4 weeks I have to say.

Ordered '03 Black Z71. All options. I'm not into modifying. Besides, it looks like this truck will have everything I want. I have a 2500 LT Crew Cab right now that I like, but I owned two 3 Suburbans before that and I miss the ride. From what I've been reading, AV sounds like the perfect combination of truck utility and smooth ride. Dealer said it should come fast... They ordered a Tahoe that was delivered in 9 business days.

GM has a fairly new program called sold to order. It is supposed to put a customer order in their hands faster. Your vehicle get special handeling and shipping from the factory. They even put a sticker on the windshield during assembly so everyone knows to get the lead out.

It's about time they did this. The customer is supposed to come first...aren't they?

The delivery is killing me. ?The factory shipped it on 3/6 on a railcar to somewhere in Maryland. ?Apparently it gets loaded on a truck for delivery to the dealer from there, at which time it is scanned and the dealer gets an update. ?It only takes 1-2 days to get to the dealer after it's on the truck. ?But as of yet, that hasn't happened, I get the feeling it's sitting among acres of cars somewhere ?

IMPATIENTLY waiting!

Ordered Arrival Blue WBH Z71 first week of Feb. Picked it up tonight. Wheels to be here Monday. SS cluster and Escalade Hi mount stop light, waiting in the wings. Just need the time to do the swap. Thanks to all on the web site, I have learned a lot from you guys, and look forward to learning a lot more about the Avalanche.

:cautious: I wanted to order a sunset orange WBH but was afraid that the rebate would be gone as dealer said it would take 6 weeks. Instead i took one off the lot. Well the rebate is still here but i am happy with my metallic green Z66. My wife wanted the cladding so she got what she wanted, but i wish we had ordered the orange.

Update: The truck came into the dealer over the weekend. So shipping took a little over 2 weeks from the factory. Total time from order to arrival at the dealer was exactly 4 weeks. That is quite impressive IMO..... thank you GM/Chevy! Now I have to wait until Friday/Saturday to go pick it up, it will be LONG week until then :cautious:

Picked it up tonight, wow is it awesome. The dealer I bought it from is over an hour away, so I had an exhilirating ride home. I'll follow up later in some thread with pics and info.
