It seems I see nothing but problems with the Avalanche.I really want to get a yellow one bad,but I see allot of annoying problems for that kind of money. Also their built in Mexico which doesn't help with the Chevy, apple pie image. ???

The only problem I have with mine is...
I can't seem to stop 'just going for a drive'!.....
This is the most pleasing vehicle I've ever owned.

I love my truck - while I have had more problems than others, I plan to keep it for a long time unless cash falls into my lap then I might grab an H2 :)

I've owned MANY vehicles over the last 22 years, the Avalanche is the very best, IMO!

Now, is it worth the money? Well, that is purely a matter of opinion. More importantly, can you afford paying that kind of money for the Ultimate Utility Vehicle?

I've had mine for about a year now and haven't had a single problem. It's by far the best vehicle I've ever owned.

As other's have stated people will always post when they have a problem to look for solutions and similar issues but you're not going to find very many people posting that they are not having problems which I am sure is the vast majority on this site.

I just got engaged, am buying a house, and will be getting married next year. Needless to say, I'm trying to cut costs...

Never once did it enter my mind to get rid of my Lanche to save money... (although I would NOT miss the monthly truck payment...)

I will own this truck till it dies!

On the other hand, a YELLOW one? :D:
That might not be worth it! Or, a WBH one... :D:

But hey, that's my opinion - that's what makes the world go round - whatever floats your boat!

ive got a 2002 and am very happy with it . no major problems in 26.000 miles is worth every penny i spent even the mods

Hey Blueruck . . . we been down this road before . . . this time, I'll just 'suggest' that you may be a bit more 'demanding' of your truck than some . . . just look at your avatar! After all 'truck abuse' is a serious crime . . ;D ;D ;D

As for me . . . no problems with my Av - greatest vehicle a person could want!

I am the proud owner of a 2002 forest green Z71 well in about 42 months. You ask if it is worth the money, when you think about it is any automobile worth the money?I am very satisfied with mine.Anyway that is my opinoin and you know how those are.

WR - Abuse???? The Z71 says off road - the roads I go on happen to have water, rocks, and mud - LOL

My AV has held up good with all of the off road love I give it :)

I would never consider another vehicle. I love my Av and would not trade it for anything in the world.

I have had 1 problem, but that means nothing. I have had small problems with evey car or truck I've owner. This is the 3rd new vehicle I have had in the last 3 years and this is the last. Unless I want another Av in the driveway for the wife. ;D

I've had my lanche for almost a year and ZERO problems! I love this truck. My friends cannot believe the ride and the comfortable seating.

Is it worth the money? HELL NO!!! But NOTHING is worth what its price is today. IMO an Av shouldnt cost over $15k-$20k but of course I just wish we could buy SS Camaros for $10k also. It's certainly worth much more than the pos baby SUVs and "trucks" that are built in the same price range.

In all seriousness, I've owned TONS of all makes over the years and I consider the Av as my favorite simply because it is THE perfect combination of a truck, SUV, family hauler that has ever been built. I was a diehard Suburban man (who grew up driving fullsize Broncos) but JUMPED on the bed when the Av came out.

The built in Mexico is not preferable but ALL Avs are built there for now, so we have no choice. Many other GM trucks are built in Mex also and they dont appear to have anymore trouble than anything else. Hell if they "have to" build em somewhere besides here, I'd just as soon they build em down there vs Canada.

I've had my truck for 13 months and replaced a torque convertor at 11k but other than that, no problems. I dont recommend keeping ANYTHING out of warranty/ext warranty, but thats just me. I'd be the same if I was forced at gunpoint to own a Toyota.

GET YA ONE SON!

ACE I haven't had any problems other than the ones that I have caused. buy it, get an extended service plan (I got a GM plan 72mo, 75k miles and $0 deductible) if you feel better, the reason you THINK it has a lot of problems is because you are looking at a site where there are thousands of members and of course a problem here and there would be normal, Do you think that if you go to a Ford Pick Up only website with 6,000 members you won't see this many problems.

Let me start by saying ...and speaking strickly for me, I've had a terrific experience with the Avalanche. I came over from the master race of 4X4s, Land Rover, and this transition was more than worth the investment so far.
I've never been known for sugarcoating my posts in adulation or "political correctness".
That said, do have major concerns I wish someone had warned me before purchase and you might want to focus your efforts on:
1-Milage (100s of posts on this subject)
2-Rear view impairment (no matter what people tell you even once in your Avalanche ownership youll do the "Oops didnt see that Hyundai back there" shuffle.
3-Brake input (10s of posts on subject)
4-Mid to High end acceleration lag.
-Avoid Black utility vehicles ...Try keep clean look for more than 2 hours!!

One last thing ...
This is certainly the LAST place you want to
survey on Avalanche worthiness...

(I made up my mind with the MOTOR TREND truck of the year 2002 award issue... You might wanna get a hold of it and.....best of luck!!) dr_.

The Avalanche is the most satisfying vehicle I have ever owned. It's also the first truck I've ever owned that I can say has been so good, I'll buy another.

A loaded Avalanche for $28,000 is a bargain. It only cost double what my Land Cruiser did in 1982. I drove the LC for 17 years, probably won't keep the AV that long. Now a new LC costs about double the AV. Great thing about the AV is you don't see one around every corner...yet. :B:

You got to get one!
I have had mine for about a month.I dont have any buyers remorse.I lurked on this sight for about a year and bit the bullet in March.I compared the AV to everything but it always came out on top.
Make sure you save a little extra money for all the mods after you get one......

Love mine, have for 7 months now. My girl's dad has an H2 and I drove his around, I dont know, thinking, thinking thinking. OMG!!! H2s are sweet. but yeah, av's equally sweet. GET IT

If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get one with problems that are hard to overcome, you'll have to deal with that. It's a roll of the dice. There are no guarantees with any vehicle (even though there is a guarantee :p ).

My 02 was a great vehicle. My 03 is okay, just not quite as well built, but I like the look of it better.

Avalanche is it worth the money?

In response to this question I have three distinct answers.

1. Yes.
2. Hell yes.
3. Absolutely.

Any questions?

I love my AV. The Black 2500 looks awesome! I can wash and have it looking great in about 40 minutes. Only a couple of very minor adjustments in 14 months and 14k miles. As for "is it worth the money?" I sold a '98 Dodge Durango that had a sticker price of 36k for a totally loaded 2500 4x4 for a sticker price of 39k. Yes, I got substantial discounts on both (more off on the Dodge), but the Chevy is WAY more truck than the Durango in every aspect. Quality, capacity, fit/finish, power, and comfort. Even gas mileage isn't much worse (the Durango got about 11 around town with a 318, the Chevy gets 10 with a 496 and 100 more horsepower!). This is one great truck. Cheers - Jim
