Just spoke to sales mgr at my chevy dealer. He says Avalanche's are not selling at all right now. They have not sold one the last six weeks. They do not expect to order any more this model year. It could be that with all the incentives the market has dried up. Anyone else now how they are selling in other parts of the US???? I am in Southern California.

I am also in Southern California and have a dealer calling weekly to see if I am interested. I am heading back out on the road, and will check in with dealers around the country.

It is tempting to buy one at the time, but given the soft market things could get better.

Michael

My dealer will sell Avalanche and most other models at 100 over invoice. Let me know if interested and i'll send you the dealer name and contact person.

I'm in the market for a 4X4 Z71. I live in the San Diego area. Any leads would be appreciated.

WOW even the Avalanche OUTSOLD the tundra ?;D

Not too shabby - who says Ferd outsells Chevy + GMC + Avalanche

If there is a drought on Avy sales it must be in So Cal - the dealers I talk to say sales are picking up, and the GM monthly reports indicate that also. If there is localized or regionalized slumps, and you're thinking about it - take advantage...

Statistical trivia From General Motors SEC filings (8-K):

Avalanche Sales:

June 2001: 3,516
July 2001: 5,186
August 2001: 6,015
September 2001: 7,639
October 2001: 12,915
November 2001: 8,661
December 2001: 8,306 (8,305 before I stepped in ;D)
January 2002: 6,634
February 2002: 8,369

Total sales since inception: 67,241 (not including March to date)
Average per month: 8,405 units

Not to bad given we're in the heat of a recession. GM's goal was to sell 100,000 units their first year. I think they will make it. ;)

Non-Statistical trivia from me:
I see more Avalanches on the road in Big D every day. But remember, Texas IS the truck capital of the world! ;D ;D ;D

Helmet - nice job, you are right about Texas, there are trucks and "road kill" on wheels here. ;D

I also am seeing more on the road in Houston.

I agree with the Chief on this one. I was talking to my dealer rep the other day inquiring on when my plate's stickers will be in and he also said sales of the Av have been brisk and that they typically don't sit for long on the lot.

Also meant to add this...
Being from Minnesota, most of the Avs here are of the 4x4 variant. On my particular dealer's lot, Z71 tripled the number of Z66s. I only counted 4 or 5 of the 4x4 model. All this out of about 40 on their lot. As I was "hand-picking" mine via the dealer's computer, it also became apparent that they don't come to badly equipped. My wife's only request was black. As we sifted through the black models in stock: all Z71, 4 of 5 were leather (heated and powered buckets), 2 had powered sun/moon roofs and they all had the same convenience package. Non-leather were about $1400 cheaper as that is about the amount for the leather upgrade. Sun roof added another $1000.

Salesman did tell me Z71 Avs were the popular choice. No dominant color, although victory red seemed most in abundance.

I keep in touch with the dealership here and there, and they say they are having trouble keeping them on the lot.....they seem to be selling well in South Jersy....

Most of the Av's being sold in the area seem to be all Z71's mostly in Indigo Blue. I've seen 1 red, 1 white (not including my own) and a bunch of Indigo Blue's...

Seems like all is well in sales for Chevy at least here in this area..

WHAT - you haven't seen my black Av in south Jersey yet?! Maybe that's because the wife only drives it about 10 miles a day. ;)

I still see very few Avs in this area. And while I was searching out Avs last month, I'd say the split is 75% 4WD, 25% 2WD in stock. Most 4WD have the Z-71 package, and I can't recall seeing a 2WD model without the Z-66.

I also found out another interesting thing regarding sales of GM vehicles. They consider a vehicle sold when it is delivered to a dealer not the customer that buys the vehicle. Glad to hear they ae selling better in other parts of the U. S. Hopefully sales will pick up in So Calif.

Hey Guys
Do the stats include the US and Canada?
Thanks

Yes Sir,

All of the afore mentioned figures include sales in Canada, Mexico, Algeria, Kurdistan, and Laos. Figures do not include the purchases made by the drug cartel in Columbia, because they paid cash, therefore GM made negligable profits on those deals because they were not financed by GMAC. ;)

Seriously, yes, those numbers include Canada. Any publicly traded American company will include all global sales in their 8-K because good numbers encourage stock buyers. (and because the IRS wants to know about it) ;) ;) ;)

I just talked to my Dad, who works at a dealership in mid-Missouri and he said he's sold about a dozen and they don't set around long. ?He said that St. Louis and some of the bigger cities have been selling slower but are still selling. ?Just have to give people a chance to warm up to them. ?It's not the same as tradeing in your 99 silverado for a 2002 model. ?People look at the outside and think "I don't know if I like the looks of this". ?You just have to tell them don't judge a book by it's cover. ?Once you get in and drive it and see how smooth and quiet it is while still having a lot of power, they'll like it!!!!! ?I'm going on vacation the end of the month and when I do I'll be sure and drop of a couple dozen website brochures for him to hand out with each new sale. ?It is in the sticks but we might pick up a few new members from the mid-west. ;D

Someone on this site indicated that they got their Av last May. Where does that fall into the sales figures? All that I have found is sales starting in June. I am still trying to figure out when mine was built, my dealer took it June 20. Someone indicated that my dealer can tell me but I haven't been back to see him.

Same is true for the tri state area I live in Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio... all the dealers I have done business with for this or that are telling me their AV sales are going well... heck my dealer had two people looking into the same exact truck we bought within ten minutes of my inquire. They have sold several AVs since and continue to do so consistently.

Looks like they will be a little short of the 100,000, but not too bad considering the economy, terrorism and war. I think the shortfall can also be blamed on the lame TV commercials ;D

BTW, this site may have 1% of the owners by the end of the first year, nice work Chief and everyone. :D
