Just installed a Smartpark 2000 in my AV. Simple and easy to install. Also very inexpensive. Got it from (Opticsplanet.com. Only $44.99 including shipping) Took about 2 hours to do a good installation. They say 20 minutes! Works well. Mounted it under bumper above trailer hitch. Herb

Yes, must have pics, pleazzzzeeee!

Pics of sensors outside and system inside.

I'll try to post a couple of pics of the Autopark 2000. If these don't work I'll try again. Herb

Autopark 2000 - This unit has everything all in the unit itself which made it so easy to install. You just tap into the reverse wire (light green ) and the ground (Heavy black) located in the trailer wiring. I pulled the wires out of the sleeve and stripped some insulation and then soldered the wires from the Autopark unit, taped connections, put back in sleeve. The speaker wires were then fished thru the frame to the passenger side rear seat. (Pulled up plastic step plate and drilled a 1/4 inch hole thru the floor for the wires. Then the wires can be concealed under the plastic moulding that goes next to the back seat to wherever you want to mount the speaker. I sealed the hole thru the body and covered the wiring with loom and fastened with plastic ties. It sounds more complicated than it is. Let me know if you need any more help. Herb

Most excellent post! Thanks, The system is inexpensive, no drilling into bumper, great mod!

THANKS (y)

I want to do this!!!!!!!!!!! I do put boats and jet skiis in and out of water so I need to know if this is waterproof? I hope so, as this looks like a great product! ;D

Thanks- Willstoyz

Autopark 2000- willstoyz- Yep, it's waterproof according to the manufacturer. One thing that I forgot to mention when I installed the unit- It comes with a bracket for mounting to the license plate but I thought that it would look better under the bumper so I made 2 small "L" brackets and bolted them thru the bottom of the bumper above the hitch and then bolted the "L" brackets to the supplied bracket that came with the unit. This made it easy to adjust the sensitivity of the unit if necessary. Herb

Herb:

Again thanks, I am going to get this sensor.

Is it possible to get a picture of your brackets, or a better idea of how you did it? Did your "L" brackets attach to the underside of the bumper. Did you drill into the bumper or the hitch?

See my cheesy looking sketch!

Thanks.

P.S. - How come the grass in green and the trees have leaves in PA in the winter? (See your picture above with the speaker mounting location)

I just ordered mine (y). How long did it take to get (UPS ground)? Hopefully I'll be putting it on next weekend along with my new rims.

The brackets were bolted thru the plastic facia above the hitch. Incidentally, the trees are green because they're pines, the grass stays sort of green. Don't know why. Took some more pics of the installation. SpottyJ - your sketch looks good, just that I put the bracket above the fasia. Thought that it would be a little stronger that way. Can't figure out how to put more than one pic in reply. Can anyone help? Herb

Herb:

Thanks again, KARMA coming your way!

I appreciate the effort you took for photos, etc.

Pic #4, Underside of RR from Pic #3 where wire goes into frame. Incidentally, the supplied speaker wire wasn't quite long enough , had to add a piece. Make sure that you solder everything so that you get good connections. They supply wire nuts etc. but I don't like them. Herb

Great post, thanks, I'm looking for a backup system and this one sounds great.
How wide is the protection zone? I assume that it covers at least the full width of the AV, but how far does it extend to the sides?
Thanks, Joe

Coverage according to the brochure is 70 degrees on width and 35 degrees on height. The sketch shows the 70 degrees going from mounting to outside edge of truck. Log onto Opticsplanet.com . They may have more info. Seems to work O.K. for me. Herb

Snooping around the web, I found this for only $29.95, with free UPS ground. Dropshipped from the manufacurer....

http://www.everythinghome.com/atnaupa20bau.html?source=bizrate&kw=ATN+Auto+Park+2000+Back+Up+Safety+System+-

Worth 30 beans until I can get the SnakeEyes, and get it installed!

From all of the Snakeyes talk here, I didn't know that anyone else besides me knew about the Autopark 2000. Sounds cheesy, but a friend of mine has one and he loves it for his 300Z. I purchased one on eBay for $24, but I have yet to install it or have it installed. I will have it done by this weekend, so this will be my last mod. Herb thanx for your instructions, I think I can follow those. ALL pix are soon to follow!

Omega - You did really good on the price. I'm jealous' LOL You will find that the installation is not that hard. Herb

Thanx. I went on eBay at 3am and just waited it out. I was the only one to bid when I got mine, but the Buy It Now price was not $44 either.

I just ordered a ATN AUTOPARK 2000 for $29.95 including the UPS shipping.

Thanks again for the info Herb! (y)

I will post pics after install.

(Edit: Oops, I just noticed that the $29.95 price is already listed a few post above, sorry)
