Bagged' Or Hydrolics -pics

Actually I am pretty sure this is a pieced together kit. They usually use the air lift bags, and those are Viair Compressors and tanks. This is the shop that air bagged my 98 Expedition (Which is also on the website ;D )
 
How is the ride? Is it smooth or real bouncey?
Can the truck do any sort of tricks similar to hydraulics? I noticed the white Expedition was able to raise the rear and drop the front. Do all bag systems do this?
How does it work? Is there a controller of sort?
I think it's cool.
How much? Arm & a leg?
 
air ride is great. Had it on my S-10. Manny you can hook up the bags to a controller similar to hydros only no hopping. The controller I had had six switches: up/down/seesaw/front/rear. The cost is relative to the parts. I did a 4 link rear setup on my s-10 which ran 1200, then the bags were 300 rear and shockwave airshocks for the front ran 400, compressors(needed 2) 400 then the hoses I had done in braided which ran another 200 so all told 2500 roughly.

ouch! My wallet just yelled at me for hurting it. I think the stock suspension is good. LOL

Thanks for the info. I was never a fan of the hopping vehicles. I saw a pick-up that had hydraulics on it and it was hopping so high, that it eventually flipped on it's side cause it landed incorrectly on a hop.

Since you had one and seem to know about these things . . . a question for ya ???

Can you use these to llift the truck above stock height and then still lower the truck back to stock height ???

Any knowledge would be really appreciated (y)

Basically I'd like more ground clearance when going light off-roading and still be able to fit in my garage when I get home :cool:

not really.... the bags replace the coil springs in the rear and shockwaves replace the shocks and springs in the front. With the bags deflated the car lowers itself with the air the car returns to the stock height or whatever the height of the bags would give you(some are taller than others). So I really do not see how you would be able to raise the vehicle above stock then drop it back down for the garage. The only way would be if you could somehow rig the bags below the springs and use the bags to raise the springs out of there pockets thus raising the level of the vehicle and to me that would be to damn dangerous in my opinion.

Fisrt of thanks for the info - love learning something (y)

I think from your above explanation then this could be an answer:

Have a 6" suspension lift put in. Then the this would be the new stock height. From there, when the bag are deflated it would drop down to ???

Could this be a possible way to get a height above what we have for stock and still get it down close to the stock height when deflated?

I said I learned something not much but, I'm trying here ;)

I really don't know all that much about suspention lifts. What is added to the suspetion to make it a 6 inch lift?? If you could replace the springs with bags in this application, then yes you would be able to lower to stock height deflated then air up and be at your regular(lifted) height.

How much does adding bags to your AV cost? Just curious, I wouldn't know where to start looking, but like I said, it's growing on me ;D

I'll try to start looking around, any info would be greatly appreciated!

You know, I once saw this Dodge Ram on Trucks! with a 6 in lift. While sitting at a stop light he flipped a switch and it raised another 6 inches with airbags. He used it to get a more aggressive stance.

:eek: That's what I need. I'm wondering if this could be under $5000 to have done.

That and folding mirrors would complete my real modding needs >:D
