In what may be a wasted effort to offer something productive....

Based on the severity of the accident this truck was purpotedly in, the drain may be due to damage in the harness on the damaged side of the truck, a cut in the insulation, grounding out, etc.

Troubleshooting it would involve many steps and a fair amount of time, from the relative descriptions of your abilities thus far presented, you're going to invest a notable sum at your dealer again for this to be done and done correctly.

If it is a new battery then take it back to the place of purchase and get you money back on it ....battery should not die like that ....

Intimidatoruag...Just in case you were not aware...this Av was/is a Salvage Title vehicle...

BLK02Z71...Why are you now cursing the dealer...is he not one of the dozens who informed you that your Av:
1) was involved in a major accident
2) has odometer tampering
I think the dealer should be commended for bringing these things to your attention.

Oh...and since you are again ignoring advice...this time to leave your Av overnight for a draw test...we will look forward to your post about the "new" battery going dead as well.

I cannot support the findings of anyone who would so callously throw a battery at the symptom without some real diagnostics...especially in YOUR Avs case...

but you probably didn't give the second guy all the facts either...

This comment is off topic, so I apologize in advance.

Gentleman:

Obviously there is a lot of history with this member and yourselves, and I do not wish to get involved. However, when there are many threads that go off topic just to flame it is getting annoying.

I just tagged my brother in-law and he went to the site only to read some flaming, I was embarrassed.

If you wish to flame perhaps we should make a flame section..... and put it on another board.

Now, don't get me wrong I am no sissy about posts, and enjoy the membership very much.

Thanks for reading.

Can we get back to Avalanches now?

On the subject, I had a F*rd Bronco a few years back and I replaced the battery and had it die within a day. And it kept dying day after day. Replaced with a another new battery, all was good.

Coincidentally SpottyJ I had a Bronco as well. 1995. I had the same problem it even effected a new battery. The reason it kept draining my battery. I had a power inverter installed. One of the power wired chaffed through the insulation, and was intermittenly shorting causing a drain. There are lots of wires in an Avalanche!

My brother has a brand-new 2004 Yukon Denali and the battery died a couple of times, in spite of RAP. Turns out he had a 12V cooler in the back seat. The compressor would run, then shut off after it had cooled down. Enough time would go by for RAP to do its thing and power down. Then the compressor would click back on causing RAP to restore power. This cylced all night until ...
