Hi:

Since I'm getting ready to install my EMPEG MP3 player in my AV, I decided to confirm what I suspected about the 03 AV console- its made to mount a standard DIN radio. I pulled off the front trim and what did I discover? A nice mount that appears to be designed for this exact purpose. Notice the radio support bracket in the back? So all you'll have to do to mount a standard DIN radio is cut off the pocket and mount your stereo!

This is one of the best things I love about the 03 console vs. the 02's.

Hope this helps others. Here's the pic:

I have a vision of an 11" monitor mounted in that spot now. Like it was said too, the 12volts are there as well!!

Correction...almost deep enough...you have to do quite abit of trimming to get it to fit all the way back

teksavy -

I had the dealership put in a 10.5 screen and place the dvd player in the bottom slot. Since I have little kids, I wanted the DVD player in reach to change out the movies. It looks great, but now I have concerns that it is visible.

Do you know if Chevy or GMC makes a cover/door for the bottom slot?

Thanks -

I had an Alpine GPS monitor installed where the factory radio was and moved the factory radio to that spot. The installer added a nice pleather surround - it looks great.

He told me the entire radio harness was wired UP to the factory radio, so when he removed the radio there was no need to build jumpers or splice cable.

Batchler1- No sorry, I don't know about a door.

0luke1- Do you have any pics of your setup? I'd love to see it.
