Thinking of doing the following mods in the future, but I want to keep it easy if possible

This is what I want to do...I would like to add neon glow under the vehicle as well as putting some neon inside on the mid-deck. Sail panel lights will also be added.

This is the function and look I'm after.... I would like the lights to come on when the auto headlights come on. I would also like them to blink when I lock and unlock the vehicle with the fob.

So my question is...Is there a preferred wire I can tap into that will alow me to this with out buying a thousand diodes and such ??? I like things left simple  :p

Any help or advice is much apprieciated (y)

Why don't you tap into the main battery feed line, red box below the alternator. Just install a inline fuse immediately and then run to your controls...

Blah controls :p I want an install and forget set up. Will that hook up you mentioned Chris work with the FOB blink?

PS- Nice to talk to you again :)

Install a relay which gets active when your running ( sometimes called parking lights ) are on... Thus when you turn on your fogs, or your headlights come on automatically the glows will come on. When you activate the FOB the parking lights come on and off with the fob....( when its dark out, if I remember correctly ), thus the glows will turn on and off as well.
Either way, you need to run is own circuit and fusing... Just use a relay to active the circuit.... Don't rely on factory circuits to handle the load...

Thanks Chris. What is the color of the wire I need to tap into for the parking lights? And if I run the main hot wire for the glows from where you mentioned, will they turn off automatically when the truck is shut down? I guess what the end result I am looking for is...Glows on with fob activation....Glows on with perimeter lighting....Glows on with headlights.

Doug

The glows will be on when the driving lights are ON.

Colour of wire is ???? Have to check the service manual for the exact wire...... Might be a little while as I have to work longer hours today!! :8: :8: :8:

Chris

ya might want a switch on the relay...so they are not always on with headlights...some laws do not like neon on outside why driving.....

So if you have switch inline with the running light feed you have the ability to control when they come on with a signal from running lights....

ygmn... Doug would figure that out shortly after a ticket for it!!! He has experience with Blue DRLs...

Dont get me started  >:D ;D Thanks for your input on this Chris. I might just buy this stuff, install it, then steal you away from your family at the NFGTG to wire it ;D

Or, use a second relay, so that when the headlights are on, the relay cuts off the glow. This would not do exactly what AV42Medics wants, but it would be (more) legal in that the glow would not be on while driving down the road.

Of course, now that I said that, a simple method might be to tie the trigger of the original one relay into the puddle lights circuit. That way, the glow would be there for the fob activation and perimeter lighting only. Again, not what was wanted, but may be more legal. An advantage to this is that the glow would come back on when the door is opened. (At least I think it would, the puddle lights always come on when the door is opened, don't they?) This might be a good compromise on appearance and legality?

Now there's an idea. Thanks SS
