There are a lot of correct answers, what range of bucks would you like the bang to occur in?

I have an 05 2500. ?It will tow it with no problem.

The question of more power...of course. ?It is not a question of need, more of want.

Search the forum for suggestions. ?There is a miriad of things you can do. ?

Enjoy the 496 Big Block!!!

Inoticed the best results from doing dual exhuast and a air intake kit. the programmer doesn't make a big difference. just my .02

Oh and  :welcome:

programmers work way better on diesel than gasoline. they are good for tuning purposes but no serious hp gains.

bully dog, bd, and ppe all have tuners and programs up to 230 hp and over 400 tq. We also deal with alot higher injection pressure than gasoline, all the new common rail diesels are over 26,000 psi injection pressure and 30-40lbs of boost. sorry for the? :jacked: we now return to the original topic.

The 8.1l will handle your 9,000 lb boat with out much problem. the exhuast and air kit will definately help and you should be able to do both for under $800.00. I tow a 10,000 lb regularley and only drop to 45-50mph on steep hills.

ANY RECOMAN DATIONS ON BRAND OR MODEL OF PROGRAMMERS ,INTAKES,AND EXHAUST AND WHAT I MIGHT APR OX. EXPECT TO PAY ? AND WHERE TO GET A GOOD DEAL?  THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL ANSWERS IAM JUST TRYING TO GET SOME IDEAS.....

Ive had great luck on my 02 2500 with magnaflow exhaust, outlaw cold air and diablo tuner. As far as  tuners go there worth the money just to firm up the shifts.

i agree , the tuners really shine with the added airflow of intake and exhaust add-ons

Well just got done installing my Magnaflow exhaust.  Man, what a difference not to mention the sound.  Nice throaty sound but not annoying.  Deep sound at start out to about 2K then in quiets down.  WOT is great.  There goes my gas mileage  ???

Outlaw CAI and Jesse Bubb tuned PCM.  Both have helped performance.

Don't remember the price on the Outlaw.  It added some growl on acceleration.
JB tune was $150 for a "new" tuned PCM.

Want Magnaflow next.  Heard of 2 MPG increases.  :dunno:

My Hypertech on 93 octane mode provides a noticable jump in power.  Even is 87 octane mode ia get 2-3 mph more up steep hills towing 12k lb.

Don't buy the magnaflow or any exhaust for just better mpg.  You will find that it goes down 'cause you love the sound.  I dropped 2 mpg...love that launch sound...

air intake and exhuast work best on these motors program is nice but you can live without it

I am with Sunburst.  I ran the intake for a while.  Just added the Magnaflow.  As the computer learns.  Mileage and performance increases

The best mod for the buck for me was dumping the cats, it cost me nothing! It made a clear difference in power as the tires squirked longer when I floor it at low speeds plus it gave it a nice rumble sound to the exhaust that was absent before. But I guess it's not a good option for you if you want to pass inspection.

The HP tune (cost me $200) did wonders for my truck. I removed tq managment, richer air/fuel mix and firmed up the shifts which resulted in a big performance gain but much worse gas mileage 'cause it was an aggresive tune. The tune was done after installing a K&N intake and dumping the cats, so that might of helped in making a bigger difference than without them.

As my warranty runs out, my thoughts wander to performance as well.

Seems like such a big engine should be easy to squeeze a few more HP from.

Just don't want to waste money on hype . . . . .

Intake
Exhaust

Helps it breath and sounds great...

Chip is next for me...

Hey Guys I have a magnaflow exhaust on mine with a custom air intake and Wow the sound.  It has gotten louder since install (50,000 mi).  My wife hates it  >:D but I love it.  I pick up my diablo tuner tomorrow and hope to get some real increase in the seat of the pants.

I had to stop riding due to medical issues with my last accident so I might have to put on a supercharger to get back to the power to weight ratio I love!!!!  :D

Cool keep us posted  (y)

OK am I  :E: I got my predator tuner and installed the performance upload and the unit said it was successful.  While I was uploading the map the dash kept saying REDUCED ENGINE POWER.  I didn't think this to be true till I drove it (or tried to).  First it would not start it kept dying on crank over.  then with a little throttle to keep it going it would idle.  Sounds like it will stall at any time... I can't remember what the stock idle is but I bet its not 500!

Next I drove it around and I didn't feel crap!  Also it has a full tank of premium fuel in it like the manual says.  Then I decided to take off the torque management and reloaded the map.  Nothing... Am I missing something or do I have to do something extra...?

HELP!
Thanks in advance as this is a really stupid problem to have but a problem non the less...  :help:

I'd post that in a new thread . . . .might get more responses.

Interested in hearing how it turns out, was looking at the Hypertech, but don't want to blow away the car with it!
