Beware of the convenience package!

After researching the options and dealing with the frustrations :E: of the dealers not being able to build the same vehicle as I could online. I finally got the combination that I wanted.
During this process I found a loophole (or GM overcharge) that I would like to let all new '04 buyers be aware of:

If you select a Z71 ($1955) with the Sun and sound package ($2995-$1000) and the full feature leather seats ($920) you do not need the convenience package ($540)!!!! All options are included!!!

What I found out is that the convinience package is defaulted when the Z71 is selected. When the other options are added it does not go away. The only difference is that the seats are @ $800 instead of $920.
This is an automatic savings of $420 off of MSRP!!! Be aware of these vehicle already sitting on a dealers lot. I have seen 10 with the more expensive package and only one built with the less expensive package. (it was the wrong color for me)

If you build this vehicle ask the dealer to remove the convenience package before adding the other options....

By the way my Avalanche came in on Tuesday, out of the blue. It wasn't supposed to be in until Mid to late April!!!
Due to travel I can't pick it up until next week. This is driving me nuts!!!

Yes the Convenience package does have most of the same stuff, unless you get it you will not have the full personalization features (ex. Lights of after vehicle is off for 10,20,30,40,60sec. or Remote Vehicle Feedback with Keyless entry) You will still have the buttons on the steering wheel but they will do different things unless you get the PDH Convenience Package.
 
puzb...you are correct.I do not have the PDH pkg,but I have the Z71,Leather 10 way,Sun and Sound and I have everything the PDH pkg. has.I have all the DIC functions and Homelink and so on.

AvaLance...I do not have the PDH pkg. as I said above and have all the functions you describe in my AV.
 
AvaLance...I did test out the one that had the combination that I wanted and all of the functionality was there. I will second check the options that you mentioned and confirm.

I can't wait to take ownership!!!!! As I said I've been looking at these for quite a while and the anticipation is extremely high! ;D

Humm cool the AV we have down at our dealership did not do this but hey maybe they for got to put it in or somthing.....maybe thats why they are stoping the PDH next year ???
 
this is a change for '04 as the '03 Z71s definitely did NOT automatically get all of the convenience package features (none of them, actually :cautious:)

Nice catch on the overcharge. I somehow doubt this was an honest mistake on GM's part :rolleyes:
