Tired of brake dust accumulating on wheels :7:. Clean the Av, take it for a drive and the wheels need to be dusted off again. Has anyone tried these "Kleen Wheel" type disks? They are thin metal or plastic disks that mount between the wheel and the brake rotor. Do they work? What problems have you had with vibrations or any other wheel related issues?

Thanks for any help or suggestions ;D.

I have actually tried these yrs ago on another vehicle. I did run into some problems with them. They tend to heat up and warp causing them to rub on the brake caliper causing a screeching sound while driving. I took them off as soon as this started to happen.

Brake dust is ineveitable....

Thankly it is not hard to clean up on the AVY Z wheels...

My good friend who own a tire and brake shop tells me that they cause heat buildup in the brakes. He says this causes excessive brake pad wear.

I am a Sales Rep for a commercial aoutomotive chain, and have seen great results from the Specialty Mechanics and shops that I call that are using the Raybestos QS Pads. They are a blended ceramic pad and work really well. The ceramic still leaves a whitish dust (harder to notice), and are easier on the rotors. They are a bit more pricey, but hey if you want quiet stops and less dust...

Just my cent and a half

Thanks to all for your replys and comments (y). I like wolfman's idea of using the Raybestos QS Pads. I plan to look into them in the near future.

I'm not a break buff...but does anyone know if the pads your are referring to offer the same advantage over stock pads....say like a kevlar break pad....are the results similiar... :B:

NJAV~ I have never heard of Kevlar brake pads, but I will do some checking.

TMTMTL= formerly wolfman now that I have an Av I am dododo da doda dooo TMTMTL....hehehehe

I don't have this problem with my Av. Compared to my Ford Probe and Pontiac Montana the front rims stay virtually spotless on my Av --

the ceramic pads do not have the stopping power of the ceramic pads. they are better on the rotors though. if you tow i would stick to the metallic pads. :B:

I also agree with the Chief on this one....out of all the vehicles I've owned....which isn't that many...the Avalanche seems to be one with the less amount of brake dust fouling my wheels.....which is nice...cause when those aftermarket wheels come in somewhere down the line...I won't have to worry about it... :B:
