I've come up with a Module for the All-on-Brake/Sail Panel LEDs Mod.The module would allow you just to cut the tail light harness and plug in the wires to a module for the All on Brake/Sail panel led features. All self contained, and eventually completely splash proof.

I'm doing this to clean up all the loose wiring i have in the tail light area. The module does have a relay built in,and a 6 amp diodes installed.

If there are some members intrested in this, ill order a few, install all the necessary hardware, and send it to you,at cost.but it will be a prototype pc board with the hardware installed.but it wont be in a sealed box.still working on that hardware.

Once you get everything set and sealed I'd be interested in the finished product!

10-4.i'll try the prototypes on my AV first.to see if the Circuit board can handle the current. The sealed box to hold the board might take a little while longer.gimme 2 months to get it finished.

what is the estimated cost?

thats what im not sure of.but the companies i order from give me a discount if i order enough products.the intional cost for me would be $40-50 per pair of modules. But if i had enough orders,i could get the cost between $20-30 per pair of modules.but those are rough estimates.

Give me a little time.I should have a working set of modules when i get home this time on the 21st.

Well i have come up with a sealable box for the all on brake module, and a hard wired prototype.Below are the pics of the design.i'll have a better one hopefuly by the time i get to the house.

Just to let everyone know,I have ordered all of the parts for the upgraded All-on-Brake Module.I should have all the parts in when i get home on Thursday. And hopefully Friday I'll have it working in my Av.

Fortunately for some one,I'll have an extra pair of modules. This is because the company i have ordered the PC boards don't have an option for just one board.Who wants to join me as a Guinea pig?

I'm game!? ? >:D

But only cause I have seen your other work, and I know you do quality stuff.

where do you plug this bad boy in at again.....did you say behind the tail light?

Yeah.you just cut the orginal taillight harness, connect the harness to the plug/harness that attaches to the box.the the other harness connects to the socket wires to the tail light blubs.

I'm making this to clean up the All-on-Brake mod.instead of cutting and splicing the required connections, this box will do it for you.the only wire you have to tap into is the trailer harness.Below is a simple diagram on how to connect it to the tail lights.

Just realized,i could add some more connectors to this module so you can add the sail panel leds.why didn't i think of this before i ordered the PC board. :E: :E: :E:

Oh well.the next prototype i build will have this feature built into it. >:D

Not a bad thought! I had sail panel LEDs hooked to my parking lights at one point... wasn't the look for me though. I think it would probably be an easy add on. Though you'll have to consider the fact that people vary on how they want their LEDs to act.

I still want the All-On-Brake mod to counteract some of my tinted tails though   Plus it's just cool!

Well.I've finally got most of the prototype Brake Master Modules built this time while i was home. All i can say is this is gonna be a SWEET module!!!

The only thing i lack now is an extra pair of the modules enclosures to mount the guts of the system. the test fitting of the module, the modules fits perfectly right in between the upper and lower tail light bulb sockets.and can be mounted to that back bracket thats right behind the tail light assembly.

As soon as i fit those enclosures,i'll have an extra pair of modules ready to send out for someone to test with me.below are some pics of the single module i got done.

What do you all think?

That looks awesome... very neat and labeled!

Let me know if you need a tester or how much you want for a set... I'd love to give it a try.

What lights are needed for the LED sail panel's?? I want to add that to my MOD list, along with the All On Brake...

Most use 5mm or 10mm LED bulbs. You can find them at www.superbrightleds.com
Click LED Bulbs and products
scroll down to Accent Lighting
Then scroll down again to: 5 and 10mm LED BOLTS

(Some members also used LED's found at Radio Shack)

I'm in for testing too...also, you mention putting them in the taillight bucket....but on the inside of the right rear quarer panel there is the wiring harness for all the rear lights...you might save some hassel by making it just one unit that goes under there.
Good luck...and put me on the list as someone that wants one now (including for testing!).

You really cant do one module for all the tail lights.if you did that, you would have to run the passenger side tail light harness to the driver side, then rerun the harness back to the passenger side.not a good idea.

plus,if you did one module for all the All on brake mod,the module wouldn't fit directly behind either of the tail light housing.the enclosure i found fits neatly right between the upper and lower tail light bulb sockets on that quarter panel reinforcement that is directly behind the tail light housing. The lower you put the module enclosure, the more it is subjected to environmental contaminates.

I'm going to try to refine the prototype to make it a little more user friendly  to install and easier to assemble.right now, there are 28 crimp connections just for the harness plug per pair.I'm gonna try to find a better connection for the enclosure to board area.my hands were killing me by the 30th wire stripping.

If there is a harness connection for the rear tail light wiring,i might be able to design a different housing and connector for truly plug-n-play compatability with the Avalanches.Does any body know where/Part# of that connection?

But at least i finally found a better way to solder the pc board.Stay tuned!

This is what I'll do.Next time i get home,I'll make up 4 pairs of Brake Master modules to be sent out for testing.

So far we have...

1:vertabatt
2:BigBlackAv
3:?
4:?

Are there any more Guinea pigs testers who want to join us?

As soon as there is 4, I'll order the parts. And hopefully have an improved design on the enclosure box.But the modules won't be sent out till at least the first week of August.I get back home around the 27 for my birthday on July 31.

I won't rush these module out until i get feedback from the testers.I want everything to fit perfectly. But hopefully, nothing will go wrong with them, and I'll have a few for STI-V to fab up.

As far as price,I'll PM every tester the "at cost" price for their pair of modules.I'm Still tinkering around with a few different parts...and their prices.

Each one of the modules will have a prototype serial # made into the housing / PC board to identify it.This way,if it really takes off, and goes commercial... You can say you have one of the first sets ever made.

c'mon folks ... lets round up this top 4 list!...and, um, can you put me in the #1 spot, i'm better looking than vert' :p
