Brakes Squeaking @ 22,000 Miles

My brakes have started squeaking. The dealer says the pads are OK. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Well if they say the pads are ok, then tell them to find where the squeek is coming from and it should be fixed.

All the time or some of the time? Hard stop or coasting to a stop? After an offroad trip? I agree with HeavyD, but I am interested in more details as well. :)

My brakes started squeaking and would also make a wierd vibrating noise when I would tap the brake and release while on the freeway. I checked out the pads while rotating the tires and had plenty of pad left. I blew out the discs and brakes being sure to get inside all of the cooling holes on the outside edge of the discs. (It's probably a good idea to wear a dust mask while doing this.) In an earlier post someone said to try hitting the brakes really hard from about 50 mph a few times. I also did this and have gone about 5000 miles now without anymore noise. I am due to rotate again in 2000 miles and I will repeat cleaning out the brakes then. I hope this helps.

The noise is all the time and only happens while driving. It's even noticable at high-speeds.

I do allot of off-roading so this makes sense. I have however recently took the truck in for a 20,000 mile service and had the undercarriage completely cleaned to incluide the brakes. That doesn't mean they did a good job though.

Have you checked the front and rear backing plates ? I'd look there and then check that the "wear tabs" have not been bent and are subsequently making the noise. Of course you've applied some anti-squeak compound on the back of the pads before you do any of this, right? ;)
