Break in period suggestions?

Just picked up my AV last night. I have a 4x2 w/ 5.3L.

What does everyone suggest as far as break in? How many miles? How many oil changes etc? Should I wait x number of miles before going to Mobil 1?

Maintenance has quite a few as does the Q&A section....

For the most part the consensus is to follow the manual......on the resource tab on the left ...we have PDF files of the 2002 and 2003 manual....
