Broken Exhaust Support

On my way home from MCM after one of my required stops at Hardee's I noticed a tin-can like rattling sound while idling.

After a quick search I found the source of the sound to be coming from one of the support brackets near the rear of the drivers side exhaust pipe. (I have duals out the rear... some of you may remember the poor dual exhaust install I received)

Looks like the weld broke (no big suprise there considering the craftsmanship of the rest of my install) and the bracket is banging into the exhaust pipe.

I was able to move the support out of the way to cure the noise but now there's no support on the drivers side pipe anywhere after the muffler and it's starting to sag.

I want to get it fixed right and I don't want to take it back to the place I had it done. I need to find a new shop that can fix me up nice.

My question is what can I do to support the drivers side pipe until I can get it fixed? I know it gets hot so I don't know what I can use to support it without causing a fire.

If there are any ideas or suggestions I would appreciate it.

David, get one of those universal exhaust support brackets from Pep-Boys, or Autozone. That should work until youy can get it welded correctly.

Didn't know they made such a thing but it makes sense. I'll stop by tonight and pick one up. Thanks!

Yup, universal hanger will work great, OR depending on how it's broken, large hose/band clamps to repair it.

I have had to use heavy gauge bare wire in pinch one time to get the muffler some support from sagging. I wrapped it around the muffler and the frame.
