Butterfield Canyon Cruise
Saturday, Oct. 13th
Time: 10:00 AM
Meet at Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse
7456 S. Plaza Center Dr. (Jordan Landing)
West Jordan, UT

Lets go cruising again!! Butterfield canyon is a beautiful scenic Utah byway. Butterfield Canyon is located in the southwest corner of the Salt Lake Valley. It winds to the top of the Oquirrh Mountains and connects to Middle Canyon which leads back down into Tooele. There is a side road at the summit which winds to the top of a peak that overlooks the Kennecott Utah Copper mine and the Salt Lake Valley to the east. The view to the west overlooks Tooele and the Tooele Valley. With A bit of luck we will still have a few Fall leaves in th lower parts of the two canyons. We will depart from Lowe's in West Jordan, cruise up Butterfield Canyon and take the side road to the overlook. Then leave the overlook and cruise down Middle Canyon into Tooele. Figured we could find some lunch in Tooele before using I-80 to cruise back into Salt Lake. Total drive time is about 3 hours not including the time spent at the overlook and lunch.

Hope you can make it Kent! That is an awesome pic! Was it taken from the overlook above Kennecott?

Yes we went there Sunday with my friends from Illinoise and I decided to climb the steep hill just to the east of the Parking area on top of the canyon overlook.  I should have walked down and took a picture from there but I would have to climb back to the AV being as Mrs Trafficman was not going to drive her down.

What? Nicole didn't want to risk rolling the AV? She wouldn't have been in any trouble would she?  >:D

What did the leaves look like? Any chance of fall colors for us in October? Especially the lower part of the Canyon?

I think I should be able to make this one. Of course I have to discuss it with the wife. I will confirm in a few days. Great looking pictures.

Looks awesome there! Our leaves only change color when the sun frys them off the trees!

Looks like a gret run - except not for my pavement princess!

I called and set up the Donner-Reed Museum appointment for 1:00 PM.? That should give us some time at the Harvest days craft fair & flea market and to eat before the museum opens, if we leave Lowes by 9:30 AM.

I will be bringing everyone a jar of Huckleberry-Strawberry jelly so make sure you have at least a small cooler.? I can keep it cold untill we get to our fairwell point.? It is frozen.

HEY!

Now that I have your attention!!  >:D Notice that the start time for the GTG has been moved to 10:00 AM. We are moving it back an hour to help Shane get down here from Idaho.

See you all there!!

Thank you all for doing this for me. I will be leaving from Idaho between 7am and 7:30am. I should be there no later than 10am. I do plan on breaking a few speed limit laws.

Looking forward to seeing you all again. (y)
