Has anybody ever wanted to get their catalytic converters gutted in California and still be able to pass smog.. well friends I did it not to mention did it and passed the flying colors as well as left my chip my super chip f5 flash pack set on my performance setting and I didn't have to do any funny program or any type of o2 sensor delete or anything. Let me start this thread off by saying that I have a 2005 Chevy avalanche 6 in of lift 37s inch tires rcd lift with King shocks oh yeah with a cat delete dark horse racing headers and a 3-in exhaust to a 10 series flowmaster with 50 state legal k&n fipk intake. Okay so California's gas sucks and it is hell on catalytic converters and at the time my catalytic converters had gone bad my truck was running like crap and I didn't have the money to take it to a shop or buy new catalytic converters so a little magic fairy AKA oxyacetylene torch . Unbolted the exhaust from the back of the headers made a small incision around the weld on the top side of my cat and proceeded to get all the crap out of the center of it (FYI don't try to recycle the stuff inside the cat you could get in trouble) anyways once both my cats were clear I simply made marks where I had took them apart on each side and then line those marks back up and put a nice weld back around the top for the o2 sensors the downstream or the ones closest to the back of the truck I simply used a spark plug gap Fowler but you can actually buy o2 simulators for 15 bucks a piece either way is up to you and it's as simple as installing the o2 sensor simulators install the o2 sensors back on top of the simulator and then take it to the smog shop it will not throw a check engine light still hasn't every part that I've listed besides the cat delete is completely a hundred and ten percent legal and the reason why I just left the catalytic cans instead of just putting a pipe in there is simply because when they do their visual inspection it will pass now I know there's a lot of people out there that are just going to say you can't do that can't do this that's not right and I agree but my truck produces more power noticeable power and I don't have to worry about California gas messing up my catalytic converters and if you've ever bought a California's compliant catalytic converter you know that they run about 450 bucks a piece so this is just simply a little bit of information some free horsepower and doesn't take a lot of time or money hope this helps everybody out
