I am about to purchase a tent for my Avalanche and was wondering which was better- the Camp-Right Tent or the GM tent. Any comments on either tent would be appreciated. Thanks

I have the Camp Right and am very happy with it, I've only used it once but was very happy with it

What is the approximate cost and where is the best place to get one ?
Does it have a GM part number so you can order through GMpartsdirect.com ?

I just answered my own question by searching..
linky thing

I got the Camp Right, but it was through a group buy, have seen both, as stated the Camp Right is a little higher in size, both seem well made & since you need a matress anyway the lack or having a floor should not be an issue (you are going in the cab via the lowered back seat), get the one you like better and can get at a better price, either way I don't think you can go wrong!

Don't forget your door window screens for those warm summer nights.

any pics of your camp right tent? like what it looks like inside with the mid gate down. ive been researching and im leaning towards camp right it seems to be a little better  :B:

Sorry,
Don't currently have any pictures, best I can do right now is to have you look here http://www.clubavalanche.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5566&st=50 it's the 3rd post from the bottom, not mine but it is a campright, as I recall the top matches where the cladding is on top (even works with Sport Wings) and the other fasteners use the hooks at the back (towards midgate) along with the ones which clip on the outside, I only have used it about twice a year for 2 long weekends, but I have had it since the group buy back in 2004.

The biggest differences that I know of:
GM comes with floor and the newer version comes with the fly

CampRight is a little taller and the fly is detached (depending on how / when you buy it can be a separte cost item), it also has attachments to hang lantern's (don't remember if the GM does)

They both have a cover on the tailgate

I chose the CampRight because it has no floor.  With the GM, you have to empty out your bed before you can set up the tent, which seemed like it would be more work.

After using it a few times, we sold it because we did not like being tied down to our campsite once the tent was set up; there were times we wanted to drive to a trailhead, etc.  Of course the nice thing about either of the tents is that you don't have to care about wet ground or all night rainstorms...

Where did you get your window screens?

Hello Is legend  :welcome:

Actually they're homemade. See this thread.  They weren't too difficult to make and actually would be easy for someone who knows a little about sewing. They go on easy and don't take much room. Just roll'em up and store with your camping gear.

You can set the GM tent on the ground or get another cheap pop-up tent to hold your spot at first-come, first serve type campgrounds. You can put your stuff inside the GM tent, collapse it, put the bedcovers on and drive off. It's not much work to pop it back up after you do it a few times. I have a screen to lay over the sunroof for extra air too.
