I think 2002 was only year with soft cover.
Different brackets and such.

Rare option.
Most who came on here with it replaced with hard covers.
My black '05 is still rolling around BR, through LSU sometimes. I need to know how I can mount an inverter inverted under cover #3, whether to use sheet metal, plastic drop-ins, or through bolts.

Well thru bolt is safest but more potential for water leaks.
Why mount it there?
Most put it under a rear seat

Hi guys! I'm new to the forum, but I've been driving the same Avi for nearly 20 years and over 200K. I'm retired now and modifying her to travel a bit after fixing most of the built-in Chevy shortfalls. I'm trying to mount a 1500W inverter under the #3 bed cover on the right side close to where my winch connector is mounted, but can't find anything on what the covers are made of. I don't want to drill all the way through, and don't want to poke any anchor or screw holes that won't support the five or so pounds. Any advice would be much appreciated.

They are made from a plastic exterior and have an aluminum honeycomb matrix for the core.

Best bet is to drill thru and use silicone to seal top side.

You can not assume the bed will remain dry, if your inverter is not weather proof this is a bad idea. You would be better to stick it in a side tool box or under a seat in the interior as already mentioned. I will be mounting all of my amplifiers inside the side panels in my truck. The whole panel side does come out.

I would put it in the sadddlebag
