Can't Decide On The Super Av - ?too Tempting!

Hi all-

Been lurking and following the club for a while, as I don't yet have an Av. I was planning on waiting til this fall and getting an '03 with all the new stuff. Then I saw this brand new '02 (obviously the mods have already begun) at a near by dealer. I am torn. This one is awesome except for the funny custom stripes and the steps need to be replaced with bars - IMHO. The discount and getting 0 % on the truck AND the lift/tires is soooo tempting. Dealer is willing to go below invoice + the rebate and just add the lift, tires, billet, etc. He even gave me the name of the shop so I can get a quote as to the cost of the work already done.

Attached is a pic!

Nice pick of the lifted AV!I can see why you would be tempted, that is a sweet looking Av,looks like a pro
mod all the way!

nice truck it's so high that the driver could not even see that he is driving against that arrow.

That's a nice dilema to be in! Sweet looking ride and the deal sounds sweet also.

Sweet ride.

I keep convincing myself that I don't need to do the lift -then you folks keep producing pictures like this. I love it.

aaaaaaggghh!!!

The pin striping and graphics add a lot to the look of that AV. Very nice (y)

Get it! I would have them turn the tires around, BFGoodrich is nothing to be ashamed of!

That lift really adds to the dimensions of the Av. It sure makes it look well proportioned, IMHO they just look better when they are jacked up a bit.

Skidd 7;)

Nice Av. What's the price? ???
That will determine whether to get it or wait on an 03. But if the dealer will do a full warranty on the lift kit... that's worth some extra $ right there.

I agree, lifted is the way to go. If I only had a couple grand laying around

I guess I don't get it, what's the big deal with the lift? Are you really going to go off roading enough to make it worth the price? It has to affect your mileage as well as a worse ride in the vehicle.

Won't those tires wear out faster on concrete pavement than normal tires? Then the replacement cost on those has to be expensive. I see those types of trucks on the lots for sale all the time so people must get tired of them after a while and what happens to the resale value? Just my 2 cents. (3 1/2 Canadien)

The BFG AT/TA's are said to be good for up to 50,000 miles (I'll let you know in a few years!). Replacement cost isn't cheap, but have you priced out replacements for the Goodyear Wranglers that come on the Z71? Those that I 've talked to say ride has not suffered much, if at all. As far as how much mpg you lose, how about it guys? Has anyone got an answer for this?

I think my biggest problem having the Av lifted...is all the small Honda civics I would eat for breakfast every morning......uh..kind of like bugs on a windshield if you know what I mean... ;D :B:

I had seen that Av a few days ago when surfing the net. In my opinion, if you really, really like it, then buy it.

Personally, I still don't get the "lift" idea, and would never do it to one of my own vehicles. Ours is already high enough, even being a Z66. That, and I just can't keep from thinking "redneck" when I look at one. It may be for you, but I don't like it. I will sya though that that blue one looks better than just about every other Av I've seen to date, and isn't over monster truck like. It seems to be just right, I think.

Oh well, juts my .2 cents....

ok Mine is lifted and I wouldn't have it any other way.

As far as ride goes, I have not noticed any difference between stock and lifted, other than in staock i always felt i was driving down hill because of the stock rake.

Gas mileage has suffered about 2 mpg. I however plan to make that up in air filter, and TB cooling bypass, and other mods.

Has far as off-roading goes, it is a huge help having the lift, but looking past the off-roading aspect of it, with a lift you also get a much better perspective of traffic ahead of you because you sit higher.

ON the asthetics side of life, I think you need the lift to compensate for the AVs large passenger compartment. With the lift you get a much more aggressive presence.

Very nice truck. Be sure to check under the door seals to see how much rust is up there, I noticed the roof rack.

I like the lift kit as well but Im affraid to get my Center of Gravity too high because I LOVE to slide around corners up in them hills.

I spoke with the dealer Jet Chevy in WA before I bought my Av and that blue one was sold now they havea sunset orange metallic like that lifted
