Carpet the Bed?

I haven't carpeted the bed (was concerned about keeping it clean) but I did line the bed - here's a link...(also see pic)

Good Luck!

You can do the entire thing, with edging and shipped to your door for $130.00 - I picked colors to match my AV - Red and Graohite....

when something slides to the front, I simply grab the leading edge and pull the entire floor toward me until i can reach the item (don't have a bed extender)

I think if you click on this link and scroll down, it will take you to a bigger picture of my Av... if not... ooooops...

Thanks for the info SWFLA1, but I still am pushing towards a carpet drop in kit? or some ideas towards that...I am definately thinking of doing my garage now with those tiles....hmmmmm

;D

I will mod my garage and my AV at the same time :0:

Well, I didn't carpet my bed, but I did carpet my sliding bed rack.

When I built my sliding bed rack, I first painted it. As it turns out, even a texurized paint will chip with time and wear.

I decided to carpet it with an indoor/outdoor carpet. So now when it gets dirty, I just rinse it off with water.

I was wondering if anyone has gone with a sprayed bed liner.

When I bought my AV, I lifted up the rubber liner and noticed it was wet underneath. I like the idea of going with a sprayed liner to prevent mold, rust, etc., but I don't know how well this would work and how much disassembly would be involved.

I had Line-X of Yorktown, VA spray my Avalanche this past week. They did a real good job. I only had the floor of the bed sprayed. It cost me approximately $255 to get it done. The water under the mat was one of the main reasons why I got the bed sprayed with Line-X. I am still using the mat even after having the bed sprayed.

Wax under the bedliner every once in a while....

 HEY this is my thread about carpet...not that Line-X sh!t LOL j/k Rangerfan ;D

That might be my second choice if noone has a drop in carpet set or I am not creative enough to buy some carpet and do something myself.

Thanks for inputs

With all of the moisture mine gets in the bed, I don't think that carpet would be a wise choice. Maybe yours stays dry enough, but mine doesn't.

Can I ask why carpet versus stock rubber bed mat?

Just yesterday, I got a plush carpet remnant for $15 and cut it to size and put it in. It's not glued down or anything. One or more of our dogs likes to lie in the back when I'm working on the Av, so I got it mainly for them.

It's a light tan or beige color. Not what I would have liked, but it's OK. It lightens it up in there a little when the tailgate is down, and I can always pull it out when hauling stuff.

When I bought my (used) Datsun pickup many moons ago, the previous owner had put a shell on it. Inside, the bed was covered with a cut-to-shape piece of 1/4" ply covered with padding and carpet that matched the interior carpeting. That might be cool in the back of an Av, but it was heavy and hard to handle.

Well I do not particularly use my bed for anything other than small items and the occassionaly piece of wood... and it would make things slide in easier and to get things out of easier. The other thing I was thinking about is that since carpet is breathable that the bed would not have a moisture problem. Rubber is what is making it sweat underneath. And if you get a carpet that has a backing already to it, that most backings are artificial material now-a-days and are impervious to mold, mildew etc.

The other reason would be that is apparently has not been done to the point of a great mod. If done right you could really dress up the AV with some color in the bed. Just ideas :D

The rubber also scratches if you slide stuff over it and its a pain in the @ss to clean and make it look good let alone getting it out of the AV bed to wash it.
