Anyone out there have a problem with their cell phone inducing some feedback into their audio system?

I've got this crappy little Motorola "i60c" two-way, electronic leash that my company makes me carry...

Without fail, when I get to a limited service area (ie, mainly just my street), I get this EXTREMELY ANNOYING "scratching" sound in my audio system.

This happens regardless if:

-It was my stock system, or my new Pioneer.
-I'm using the CD player, or listening to FM.
-The head unit is turned on or off.

The noise is a series of scratches, lasting about three seconds each.

"scratch scratch scratch" ...pause... "scratch scratch scratch" ...pause...

:8:

Any way to solve this?

Nope!

I usually store it in the sleeve used to hold my trailer brake controller, which is located just above my right knee - mounted to the dash... Sometimes it's in the cup-holders... or other times in the center console...

I have not tried tossing it in the back seat... but I know anywhere else towards the front of the truck will still allow the noise.

The only way I can stop it is to turn the phone off... Which kind of defeats the purpose of why I have it... (not a problem with me! but it is with work... ;D )

Marc,
That seems to be an added feature of Nextel. Mine does the same thing on any audio system, mostly when first connecting upon turning it on. Kind of a motorboating sound.

I get the same thing with my nextel. The closer the phone is the the radio or speakers the more you can hear it. It even does it when I set the phone down by the computer.

Strange... ?

Yeah, I remember a while back now, I had it sitting next to my regular house phone at home. ?The cell phone rang, and caused a smilar noise in the house-phones external speaker... ?

What a pain in the neck...

I have that exact phone and the same problem. It kinda makes a "popping" sound thru the AV speakers. It's MUCH worse in my wife's Explorer.

I used to have that problem also in my old Volvo; I have not seen that with the AV. Something the cell phone puts out overloads a component in the stereo system and maybe some systems are better shielded from it than others?
