Argh :E: Taking a week off work and wanted to take the AV out for a cruise and the Check Engine light came on as I pulled out of the driveway. It 1st came on solid, then started flashing.

I've only got 9,917km (roughly 6200 miles) on my AV which has been in service since June 2003. I checked the gas cap, it's on secure. Everything is stock under the hood. Oil level is fine.

The dealer told me to drive down to the shop, even though it's running rough. No word yet what is wrong. I'll post whatever I can with whatever the dealer finds, and repairs.

EDIT: ... The dealer informed me that some "rodents" or other "critters" had got up under my hood, and chewed not only the wire(s) to the ignition coil, but also ate ( :8:) some of the wiring harness. All is now repaired.

So, this was NOT a defect in the ignition coil.

I just got off the phone with the Service Dept .... turns out the Ignition Coil went sour in my AV, causing the Check Engine light to come on.

Parts are on order, but they gotta keep 'er overnight :6: I should have the AV back Wednesday afternoon :)

I've searched around the board, and cannot see where anyone here (CAFCNA) has reported this problem. Sorry, I don't know the diagnostic code which came up.

Glad to hear the found the problem Grandpa!!! Get them to do the tailgatestraps while it is there also (y)....

Nats
The dealer hasn't an inventory of the new "stainless" tailgate straps as yet ... Actually I just got my letter from GM stating the recall, and indicating to await further notification before scheduling the AV in for replacement straps.

Wanted to post the resolution to the "Check Engine Light".

This was not a defective Ignition Coil, rather, some sort of critter decided to "nest' under my hood and ate into some of the wiring harness, causing the Ignition Coil to fail.

My dealer replaced the Ignition Coil, and repaired the wires.

:B: Best of all, there was no charge for the repairs ;D :B:

Are you living a little too close to the Possum Lodge? ???

Pick up a supply of Duct Tape so you can fix it yourself next time. Unless your wife finds your really handsome! ;)

You dodged the $$$ with that one. Congratulations! (y)

Way to Go! (y) (y)
