I would love to put a tape deck in the Av, since I have some things on cassetts that I would ?like to enjoy, and some books on tape- plus that slot above the little CD storage area is rather useless anyway, and I noticed that the Silverado has a tape deck option that fits right in that area - and this is in conjunction with the exact same head unit as we have - anyone try this out? Is it a plug and play situation? aside from the tape deck unit, any other Silverado parts needed?

jackalanche,

Check the discussion out on page 3 of "CD Changer that plugs into the factory radio." I just put a cassette deck in like you are asking about and the info is in that thread. Any questions - post another note - I'll see if I can help.

just in case anyone is looking at this topic because of the title, and does not know to read through to page three of the CD changer topic - the answer is over there, and yes, the little tape deck is not too expensive, it slides right into the cubby above the the cd storage bay, and it plugs and plays - even works nicely with the steering wheel audio controls from Jason.

easiest major mod to date. ;D
