I unpluged the passenger side airbag on my Av last night - experimenting with ideas for installing a disable switch. As expected the airbag light on the dash came on as a warning to Airbag 'trouble'.

BUT . . I've since plugged the airbag back in and the light remains on. I've apparently set a trouble code somewhere. I haven't tried pulling fuses, etc. yet; but does anyone know how to clear this trouble code?

Today's vehicles are too smart for their own good!

Any insight would be appreciated.

I could be wrong, but on most vehicles if you disconnect the battery (both postitive and negative on some) for about a minute it should clear the codes, I'm not sure about the AV, but I would call the dealer to find out. :D

Correction . . .

The light remained on because I had not seated the connector completely. It's not easy to get to - attached to the backside of a structural crossmember in the dash. Once the connector was seated (and the security pin installed) the light went out

Good deal. The bad thing about having a loose connection is that sometimes the computer will store a false reading and the air bag will deploy without notice. I had it happen to me once and needless to say I was a bit surprised. Luckily, I wasn't moving. Just kidding!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
