I was just wondering if anyone else has found these things in there AV.
The first one I found was on the second day that I had owned the truck.
To date I have found 5 of these cocoons.
My truck was built in June 03 and I bought it in Oct. 03.
I don't know if these things are stowaways from Mexico
or if they got there when the truck was sitting on the lot
in Pennsylvania.

we've had a pretty good run of spiders the past few years... I'm always fighting them... not just in my trucks though.... everywhere on my property

i had one inside the cargo cover that you put over the seats when you lower the mid-gate. i never used it before. i kinda wondered how it got there. it was folded, and stored inside my passenger side comparment. ???

I don't drive my Av much - just trips & gtg's for the most part. So some little black ants decided to make my Rt. rear sail panel insides their home!

A smoke type bug bomb in the garage one night took care of that..

It's abuelito smuggling his bug collection into the country one at a time. >:D

same here. i drive mine about as much as Sperry does, and for the same reasons. i forgot to mention that i saw a cocoon on the inside if the truck cover too.

I hate to tell you this man, but your Avalanche has come down with a case of the dreaded Cooties! You need to return it to the nearest agricultural inspection station for a refund. >:D

What cover is that? Not the panel bag?

I dont have any of those on my avalanche but I've seen some in my garage and they had those same bugs in them they kind of look like roaches

Looks like Gypsy Moth Caterpillar to me. They look like furry worms and hatch into moths. They eat and destroy tons of trees where I was raised in South Jersey. They even use arial spraying to try and kills these little suckers. As kids, we used to have contests to see who could crush them just right to get their guts to shoot the furthest....Nasty little creatures...

hehehe... >:D
That explains where "CrazyTed" came from... ;) J/K

PDXKevin's pic looks like the Gypsy Moth egg masses, and pupae stages. I have these on my Birch Trees, and have seen all the stages of this particular insect. In order to kill the egg masses(late season), caterpillars, or pupae(about now), scrape them into a bucket of soapy water and let them soak in it for 2 days. The female moth will look like it's wearing camoflage birch tree bark.

BTW, the hairs on the egg masses, and the caterpillars can cause a rash.
