I think maybe it was commemorative of the Stanley Cup win last year by the Avs. My dealer recently gave me a kit with all the badging due to the frustrations recently with my new Av and its power steering problems.

Sorry no reply for lo these two days. Just drove 'cross country in the Av.
The helicopter is an OH-58d Kiowa Warrior (Armed Reconnaissance).
Also sorry for no digital camera with me. The badges are three: One says "Colorado Avalanche Limited Edition" for the tailgate. The others go on the pillars where the "northface" badging goes.

I have seen a lot of those around here, but mostly in showrooms. We don't have the Colorado Avalanche special edition Avalanche. Even though I'm an Av's fan, I wouldn't want one with the Colorado Avalanche badging anyway.
Axeonefour is right about the placement of this badging. I don't think it comes at any extra cost. It's all a marketing scheme to get more and more people here to buy an AV (not that they need to because AVs are extremely popular here). I do know that last year, dealerships were trying to sell Avalanches a few thousand bucks more than the MSRP because the hockey team won the Stanley Cup.
I don't know if I'll ever be able to get any pics. Maybe Blueruck, wrchism, or someone else could get you all a pic

As has been mentioned, this is only a Colorado thing to my knowledge. The first Av I ever looked at had this badging (most of the dealerships had this on their "showroom" Av). It tends to be on fully-loaded Av's, at least on all the one's I've seen. And here in Denver, they were charging for it. I can't remember how much, but I remember it was too much for stickers!
