Connection point for tailgate release?

I'm adding a tailgate release connected to the door lock/unlock circuit. I'm planning on gluing the Omega actuator down in the little 7" deep pocket under the handle. I'm planning on cutting out the blue dashed area to slide the Omega door lock actuator into the pocket. (see attached photo)

Does anyone see any issues with this approach?

Also, is the spot denoted by the yellow dot a reasonable place to attach the connecting rod from the actuator?

Thanks,
Mike

I installed the actuator inside the tailgate. No offense, but the way you are planning on doing it sounds way too difficult. Taking the tailgate apart wasn't that hard. Just some time and alot of paitence waiting for the adhesive remover to work. By the way, the photo that you said was attached to the post, wasn't.

we did the same thing on gman's av only we cut out a larger area, so we'd have some room to work.. as long as you leave the two bottoms holes for the bezel to connect into, u're safe..

This is exactly how i did mine 7 months ago. Not that hard at all. I used a dremel to cut out approx the same size hole. I them screwed a screw thru the fibergalss at the bottom of the cutout and into the actuator. I drilled a small hole into your yellow dot and connected the actuator to it with a small bolt. Make sure you test fit all this bu moving the actuator before you attach it. The hardest part was getting the wiring out of the tailgate. I endeg up drill a hole out the bottom and feeding it out with a coat hanger. be patient. I then sealed the hale with silicone and attached the plastic i cut away(blue line) with some silicone. Some touch up paint a you wouldn't be able to tell. I did mine this way because i was afraid to take apart thee tailgate.

Don't really have the guts to carve on the beast that way... got_change has this down to a science, tho...
