I've gotten several opinions on replacement shocks, the three most popular being :? KYB monomax, Monroe Reflex Monotubes, and Edelbrock IAS.? Anyone have any info they could share with me ?? ?My 05 AV is Stock, but I'm contemplating a Hotchkis sway bar system and poly bushings etc., in hopes of improving both the steering response (vague and lifeless), and body roll.? ? I do not use my AV for off road applications or towing, mostly back and forth to work and long road trips.? I've peformance modded german and italian cars  in the past, so I'm used to "sport" tuned suspensions...but I'm not racing any more...just trying to enjoy mywonderful  AV.

All the best,

AV in South Amboy

i just ordered 4 of these from ORU today for $300 out the door plus 23 shipping.? the fronts are about 2" longer than stock to help with my readylift application.

now, how hard is it to replace these, i haven't done a shock replacement before.? It looks easy but that doesn't mean anything.? anything i should really know?

Piece of cake.  I install new shocks yesterday in my driveway with a floor jack, a gear wrench, large deep well spark pug socket with breaker bar, and an adjustable wrench.  The socket was for the rear upper mounts.  Make sure when you do the rear,  install the upper bolt first; it will go much smoother that way.  All together took about 1 1/2 hours.

I just installed Rancho RSX's.  The lifeless feel of your steering may be due to the shocks also.  I noticed quite an improvement in the steering and reduced road noise when installing my shocks.

I too want to replace my shocks real soon. I have an '05 too and all the Hotchski sways and trailing arms plus a 1" front & 2" rear drop so I'm not sure what to do... Meaning not 'stock' anymore...
