Well I have 2 thing to tell you all.
1st- Has anyone seen the New Subrue.its so close to looking like a Avalanche, but its a car.makes me want to go and run over it. >:D
2nd- I was at work today, pulled in a Honda CRV,and on the side of it had a decall of an Avalanche on the side of it.
Now I'm not getting gelious of this, well may be abit, but doesn't Chev. have the rights to anything to do with Avalanche or the looks like a Avalanche.
Remember I'm not ?.Just though that we are an exclusive club.

And you would need to be carful around them too. They would be easy to run over :)

Another side Note. Chevrolet HAS long ago made a BAJA. I used to own one. It was a 89 S-10 with a BAJA Package. Chevy made them for several years. It had a Very Nice suspension, 4X4, Roll Bar(light bar) 4.3 Engine, All the Protection plates underneath from the front to rear. And Special Graphics. This was one of the best trucks I had owned. I bought another in 92. I think that may have been the last year they made them.

Are you talking about the graphic image of an actual avalanche? Was it a Colorado Avalanche logo? Chevy couldn't have rights to everything that looked like a real avalanche.

Two things, GM owns part of Subaru's parent, Fugi Industries, and they also had a hand in the Baha's development, otherwise they (Subaru) wouldn't have been able to use the midgate. I agree that it's, um, strange looking, but as we all know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder as many people think that our beloved Avananche is, let me clear my throat and wipe the tears from my eyes, ugly! I know, they have no sense of design!! :B:

Does the Baja have a midgate? I was trying to determine that, but the ad I saw didn't show it.

I saw the commercial lat night (September 27, 2002) and there was no mention of a mid-gate, or even a pass through door in the back....just a VERY small bed, with the tailgate extension.....VERY SMALL bed...also no mention of covers for the be either...

Overall impression? :D:

I still haven't seen the commercial, only the photos. To each his own, I suppose. Has anyone heard a price point for the Subarus?

It has what has best been described as a porthole where the midgate would be. The thing is all of 24" wide and maybe 18" tall, sitting about several inches above the bed.

I happen to like the Subaru, a little. Have had several in the past with excellent results and they are neat. Don't shun the make jsut because you don't like it. Remember how we moan about other people hating the AV......

Anyway, if they made that truck in a WRX forum, I would consider getting one... Realize, the WRX car does mid 12 second 1/4 miles STOCK. Do you know how much it would cost to make the AV do that?? And would it be reliable at that performace level? Most likey not..

My .02 cents worth. Aren't ya glad I gave it away :)

Perpendicular,

I think those WRX's are a pretty hot little car for the money (love watching rally races on SpeedVision), but I have to correct you on the quoted 1/4 mile time...

From carstats.com
0-60: 5.4 Transmission: Manual
1/4 Mile: 14.1
1/4 Speed: 96

Still very fast for a 4 banger!

I must have seen the wrong numbers when I was at the track last fall. My bad.

In any event, they are fast enough - stock. Too easy to get the time lower as well.

For what it's worth, the Subaru is likely to be dependable and perform pretty well. What it won't be is very useful. Over the years, Subaru has come up w/ some good cars and weird ideas. With a bed that small and the limited "midgate" system, you won't get much more in the Baja than you could get in the Outback, w/ a lot more hassle in inclement weather. Can't blame them for trying.

Maybe not as useful, but it's diffrent. Like the Av! Bisquick, let's keep up...it's now Speed Channel. Remember? Got be one of the best channels on cabel (or sattelite). Ok two "l"s or two "t"s? Neither looks right. It is Hell to get old.

I think they window sticker was sitting in the mid 20's. At least you get a bed that you can carry a mountain bike (as long as take the front wheel off of it first).

Everyone is copying the AV.
