I was checking my pcv valve then I noticed something on my valve cover. IT WAS CRACKED! About 4 inches foward of the pcv valve on the drivers side. I wanted to know if anyone has had this happen. I have just under 50K miles on my 2002 Z71.

Cracked Valve Cover!!!

I was checking my pcv valve then I noticed something on my valve cover. IT WAS CRACKED! About 4 inches foward of the pcv valve on the drivers side. I wanted to know if anyone has had this happen. I have just under 50K miles on my 2002 Z71. Is it cracked and leaking or is it a surface stress line or molding line? If it does not leak or if you cant see inside the valve cover it may just look like a crack. Can you take a picture and post it? Have you ever had work done on the engine?

It is not leaking. It may be a surface stress crack. I will take a photo tomorrow and post. I did buy a replacement online thru GMPartsDirect.com. I will replace when it arrives and then take a close up pic of the crack.
I did have the HPP 3, I returned everthing back to stcok settings. I have the K&N FIPKII and DirectHits currently installed. That is all the engine mods I have done.
Of course without seeing it - I would suspect it is not really a crack as much as a impact mold mark or stress line. If it does not leak and it is small - I would probably not worry about it. But if you wanna change it go on ahead and have fun
