Custom Clothes Carrier

Before taking off for a 10 day 2500 mile trip in my new AV I was wondering how we were going to carry our hanging clothes. I went to our shop and built this prototype from 1" Alum. tubing. I thought members of this site could use this idea.

This is my first post and I spend more time on this site than I should.

Thanks
Mike

So far I have not done a load test on the tubing, however we loaded it up on our trip to Georgia. The tubing I used on the prototype was left over from a job and I think it was .065 wall. It hangs level after it is loaded and is real stable while moving. If I decide to sell these units I will have to re-design the arms so they can slide on and pin in place, if I don't the shipping box size would be too large.

You should coat it with the stuff like you dip pliers handles in. I forget the name, but that would make it awesome. I would love to have one then.

Good idea on the rubber coating but I was thinking a powder coat or polished aluminum. I am designing a different attaching bracket. Thanks for the reply.

Interesting design, turning the hangers that way. This will keep the clothing from sliding side to side, like usual hanging bars.

Well thought out. Good job. :B:

I am in the process of designing a Polished Stainless Steel bar with Fixed Rubber Dipped mounting brackets to make it look perfect  for a Avalanche. If anyone is interested or can't wait for production please give me a call @

Great design idea you have!  How about extending the hanger sections as far as possible and adding a leg on each with a circle base for seat folded use.  Making a pinned connection or two for ease of storage? It would make it a maximum use rack for vacations or for my type work where I carry a couple of months worth of clothes. I'd be interested in one like that without rubber coating.  Again you have a great concept!
