I have a buddy who has been making custom parts for Mustangs for a long time. He would like to start doing some parts for the AV if he can find a market for them. I told him I could probably help with that. He needs to get an idea of what people would like to see manufactured. It really needs to be something others don't make yet. He is willing to run off small production runs and sell them here on the site. Please post some realistic ideas of what you would like. If he gets enough pre-orders based on the size of the item, he will make it using my AV as the prototype. I can then post PICS and everyone can go hog wild. How many of you would want the custome hood? Also please give me some ideas I can send to him. He can start production right away, so it should not be long before he can deliver products.

I would love to see a custom grill for the front with a 'teeth' cut out pattern. ?There was an F-150 with a flame pattern posted on here earlier. ?I'll try and find some pics.

Something like this, except with sharp pointy teeth.

How about a custom tailgate with the "Avalanche" logo stamped into it instead of the "Chevrolet" logo. If not maybe just a smooth tailgate with nothing on it, so that one can be creative. :B:

oh just what i needed! a guy who can make my hood design. i'll send you the design when i get home from school today, it's pretty simple. what do you think a price range would be? PM me.

These are all good, but how about something smaller for the first item. Does anyone make decent tailight covers for the AV? You know, something to match the side steps and bull bars. If no one makes them yet, that would be an idea. He could do chrome, polished and powder coat. What kinf of interest would we have. Any others interested in the two mODS above.

email me the design and I will run it by him. I don't think he wants to do any single builds. Only if we could get enough people interested to build enough to make it worth it to him. I will send it when I get it and see what he says. mcne1997@aol.com

Avking, does your buddy do both interior and exterior custom parts ???. Can you tell us a little bit about your friend and what his specialty is that way we can know more about him and what he can do for all of us, And do you have a pic of the custom hood ??? I'm sure once everyone knows a little more of his talents, we can get a better picture of ideas to submit. Thanx dude (y)

ok i sent you an e-mail. as for the tail lights... yes... two companys make them in fact... waag and i can't remember the other but they come in chrome black and powdercoat.... i don't think that is the way to go. maybe a front runner? lots of hard core off roaders are willing to buy those. umm how about a wipper cowl... or something i know would sell, diamond plates... 5 of them for the rear steps. maybe?

I would like some custom tail light covers. I don't want the tail light guards and I don't want the regular slotted covers....how about some other design cut out?

I do want a billet grille, any chance he could make a less expensive one? ;)

We have a member now that makes the 5 piece diamond plate for the back bumper, nice stuff. ID is Ted.

I think there is a pretty big interest in a custom hood with a functional air scoop(s). Me I would take double or single in middle. I'm looking for a way to push more cool air into the engine area. Might want to check with Gandolphxx. I know no one has been able to find these as yet.
A wierd idea is fender skirts, you know that would cover half the rear wheel well.
Now this is really off the wall, but what about a custom Av hood ornament. (would need to drill but might look cool)

i saw something like what ur looking for on a semi.. it had upper and lower "teeth" on the grill.. looked pretty darn cool too.. like it was ready to devour the car in front of it (me at the time ;) ) i'd be all for that.. something to make the av look even meaner! >:D

i'll all for a cover for the third brake light something with "avalanche" on it..

avking, i have been trying to get mod ideas going in a couple of topics,

heres an idea, for a welding shop, easy quick, pin,or bolt on mod...... rear bumper, bash plate:

look under rhe rear bumper, at the hitch, tube, that mounts to the frame

fabricate, a tube, on each side, that would slip inside the hitch, tube, and from that, running forward, below the spare( but maybe only an inch away) another tube, . that would end up bolted in at the sway bar link, to frame bolt.

between these tubes, probably with pull pins, like hood pins, a "bash plate, like front end skid plate.

why...you ask??

this would keep rear bumper lip, from getting caught, on rocks, and stuff.

from the side, you wouldn't even see it. and it would be just at the rear lip of the bumper. so if you got on anything, it would ride over it!

trick would be to make modular, slide in, and pin in place. so you could get to spare
maybe get some aerodynamic benefit, from flat plate going back to bumper, frame to frame, from in front of spare tire.

i'll take one!

another welding shop, idea, for avrs( not so crazy)

If you ever pulled your front tow hooks, you would see, how 1 bolt goes across, and 1 bolt goes up.

make, a bolt in replacement, for tow hook, that could be a mount for road lights, or a custom grill guard.

the mount would end up in line with the bumper cut out, and be a direct replacement for tow hooks

I have more, too many more, but for now just 1 more

a replacemt rear end track, bar, another direct bolt in item, made with offset at rear end cover, to allow room for custom rear diff cover.

ok, i give up for tonite!!!!..........g/c

How about a hood for the AV for true ram air to my K&N FIPK II. ?Also the 3rd brake light cover would be great. :B:

There are a bunch of us that would like an air ram hood, that's why i mentioned it earlier. It might be too much (and too special) to have it line up with the FIPK II, but that would work for me ;D.
Right now I would settle for anything that would get cool air in the engine compartment

Hey AVking. How about a nice handle for both the driver and passenger A-pillars like they have on Fords.

I think that would be really practical.

Can the guy fabricate a over the wheel well pieces of cladding. I know this is something many of us would like so as to protect our Avalanches from other peoples doors. I mean something larger than the thin piece that the 2500 series trucks have on them. Something at least 3" wide that will match both 02 & 03 cladding.

I'd like to see a replacement center console that would make good use of the area now used for the CD storage and cubby; maybe for a navigation system screen.

Ok, thanks for all the ideas. I am going to have the guy who will do the work sing up on this site and monitor this thread. I will also forward him all the PM and emails you have been sending. Hopefully he will find something he can handle as a first AV project and see how many people we can get to show interest.

Great ideas here. I would love a ramair for the FIPK. Lightbg's idea for the brake light is good too. I would go both of these if you came up with a workable product.

This is what I would want, the custom tailgate with AVALANCHE stamped in the back.

I'd also like a nice mount for a flag pole. I'd love to have the american flag trailing me.
