Reservations are for 4:00 P.M. on Saturday October 6th under the name Chevy Avalanche Fan Club.? We will be on the family style side of the dinning room.? We get chicken and can add a meat.? We can choose baked steak, roast beef or ham as our extra meat.? If we have 15 or more people, the price is $17.73 w/tax & gratuity per person, $18.94 ea. if we decide to add another meat.? We need to choose a vegetable, either beans or corn.? Let me know if you vote to add a meat as what vegetable to choose.? These choices are for the entire group.? There will be only one check, so we will need everyone's money before dinner.

I need to let them know how many will be attending a few days before the GTG, so get on the list now and cast your votes.

Sirshopolot is keeping the list in the Michigan thread....I am just updating here. We have ate at the Das Dutchman Essenhaus once and it is some of the best that you will ever eat! It is one of Indiana's largest restaurants, here are a few stats taken from their website:

Fun Facts:

Das Dutchman Essenhaus has some amazing facts. Look below and see just what your missing!

On a busy day, the restaurant:
uses 5,225 lbs. of ice
serves 7,000 guests
In one week the restaurant & bakery use up to:
300 lbs. of salt
2,500 lbs. of white sugar
36 gal. of apple butter
2.9 tons of potatoes
1,400 doz. eggs
12,160 chickens
3,700 lbs. of roast beef
2,305 heads of lettuce
40,000 napkins

The restaurant seats 1,100 guests.

The most pies produced in one day is 1,719.

In one year, the restaurant:
serves 750,000 guests
makes over 150 tons of potatoes

Our Shops staff members price over 1,000,000 gift items annually.

Essenhaus Foods makes up to 14 tons of noodles in 1 week and purchases flour in 2,200 pound bags.

In 2005, 1 million pounds of flour were used to manufacture our noodles alone!

1,800,000 bags of noodles were made in 2004.

They have an amazing bakery that is in the same building as the restaurant. There are several out buildings for shopping but the whole outer corridor of the main building is shopping, you could spend the whole day in there! You really need to visit their website to discover what is available for this fun filled day!

Saturday someone was saying that the date for this has changed to the end of September.  Is that true?  ???

Time to start thinking about this GTG! This will be some of the best food you have ever tasted and more than you care to eat. I have had the Baked Steak and it is worth the drive alone! Their bakery is to die for, I am betting that if you go in there you can not leave without buying something! There is plenty of Amish shopping, buggy rides and other things to do right there on the grounds. So, why aren't you on that list?

I know i'm the new guy to the club, but i would love to attend... if yall dont mind
:needhug:
hehe, how do i sign up?
its rather close to me only a 25 min drive or so, so i'm glad i seen this post
is there a ride?  sorry to sound dumb, but i've only gone to gatherings for bikes, never for trucks/cars, i know with gas prices this might not be a big hit, and i cant really think of a "tour" to take, but just curious

anyways.. emails are the best way to keep me informed if it isn't too much trouble, i'll try to find this post again, but no guarantees cause i just happened to stumble upon it as it is

thanks for getting things going for ol' Indiana
hope to see at least one other person from the club... someday
i honestly thought this was more of a coastal club, like florida and cali, nice to find out we got chapters all over

Coastal? NOT! We GTG around here quite a bit. Didit & I are coming up on Friday evening and going to try to eat in Goshen at the South Side Soda Shop. Saturday morning we will be taking in some sights, maybe the Studebaker Museum or Notre Dame. I just sent you a email, if you want to join us for any of that before the Essenhaus just let me know!

Only one more week before the GTG come on out .Don't miss good food, good friends, and some hot trucks.? So get moving and get on the list

its possible z66butch, soda shop is bout 15 min from my door, havent been there in quite some time... i'll have to check my schedule (which isn't ever 100% anyway)

but i do have a question bout the essanhaus though.
what should i expect?  is this just a lunch? is there a ride? vendors?
like i said, i've done GTG's for my bike and for my fathers bike club, and its actually pretty well organized w/ vendors n stuff

should i stop at the bank and get ready to spend some dough?

also... would this be "worthy" of bringing a date to? dont wanna take a date if its just a few guys having lunch... but if it is an "event" then... maybe the lil lady will be invited  >:D

also... if your up for the weekend and wanna go to some "pubs" for a game of pool, let me know, i could give some recommendations  >:D

heck we got like 6 days here... time for some decisions to be made... (forme at least) if i'm not workin in the morning I'll go along to the museum, never been....

ND??? you sure? this year??? you might be disappointed LOL

Our GTG's vary a lot but are always family friendly, I think bringing a date would be fine, the guys all bring our wives or GF's. At the Essenhaus we plan on getting there around 1:30, there is much Amish shopping, buggy rides, the large bakery and other shops to tour. Sometimes the guys will just stay out in the lot and talk trucks while the women shop, other times we all go shopping. The food is served "family style" where they bring dishes of food to pass around at the table.

As far as the Soda Shop it may just be me & my wife or maybe Didit & Lu depending on what time he gets off of work on Friday. We like the old diners and have heard about that one and want to try it out. If you want to email me your number I can call on Friday on our way up and let you know about what time we will meet there. We will have "our boys" with us (our 2 dogs) so I doubt we will do the pub thing. I have not looked at the Studebaker museum website yet but I think that is want I really want to do if we have time Saturday morning...............
