I've searched the threads and having a problem finding instructions on dash removal and how to bypass the amp. I did find a few mentions of using a wiring adapter from Circuit City to bypass the amp but they didn't go into very much detail.

Can someone please give me a basic rundown on how I'd bypass the amp? Does the dash need to be removed or just the glovebox? I've just purchased my Avalanche so I don't really know much about it.

Thanks in advance.

You can pull the glove box down if you have an 02, I know it is back there. You need a ummmmm I think its a Metra Connector to do the bypass. Lemme see if I can find the thread.

Found it!!

you need to give some more info on your truck. if it is 2003
with center console amp is located in console. that is what pbuilder and sperry told me and I did found amp right there.
if you remove rear drink holder you will see connectors to amp.

A few other details omitted thusfar regarding dash removal:
-After putting the truck in the lowest available gear, also drop the steering column to the lowest position.
-Watch out for the emergency blinker button on the steering column when you remove the dash trim, it's easy to break. Lower the column as mentioned above helps with this too.
-Start from one corner of the trim gently pulling outwards and work your way around. This will make it much easier to get off. The clips are sometimes pretty tight, so you may have to pull a little harder than you expected.
-Once loose, be sure to watch the e-flasher button! You'll have to lift it off at an angle to get it out the easiest way possible.
