Was cleaning the interior dash this weekend and noticed a spot where the paint had been scratched off. Does anyone have any ideas on how to touch-up the finish or is there a good quality, nice fitting cover I can use to protect the dash from further damage? The spot is on the horizontal surface just in front of the passenger side grab handle.

In terms of touch up paint for the dash, the dealer is most likely your best bet. If you buy from an after market supplier, my experience has shown that the paint will not be an exact match - so you'll always see a spot. :(

Factor in any sun fading that may have occurred and there is really only 1 options. :(

Thanks for the link to the Dash Mats. Has anyone used one of these mats or something similar? And if so, how does it look in the AV application?

I have the Velour DashMat, chose not to use the velcro to hold it down and it still stays put and lays flat. An added benefit the windshield stays very clean no more windshield haze caused by gasses emitted from the dashboard.

I bought the Ultimat also and it is great. Spend the extra few $s and get Ultimat over Original Dashmat - it is molded to shape of dash and fits like a glove. I have mine with Chevy Bowtie in gold on smoke - looks great with gray interior.

I bought the standard Dashmat and it works great. No more stuff flying all over hel*. THe grey matches my interior allmost perfect....

hmmmmmmmmmm... see a very practical mod in the near future.. This is one the little lady will appreciate

After reading some of the earlier posts, I ordered the Ulitimate Dashmat. As I was having the front windows tinted yesterday, I realized that I have that sensor (little round one for Auto AC I think) protruding near the base of the windshield.
I expect the dasmat to arrive tomorrow or Tuesday. Does anyone know, if the sensor will still work properly if I cut a hole in the dasmat? Will it stick up high enough out of the mat to work?
Thanks

I think you are talking about the headlight on/off sensor.

Roy :)

Roy,
I actually broke out the owners manual. According to the manual, we are both correct. The sensor controls the AC temp on auto mode, and also is used for auto headlights.
I guess maybe I will be the first to find out if the mat will allow the systems to work with a hole cut out.

If you look closely at this pic, you can see it(center vent~right side). No need to cut anything and no need to use the velcro either. lights work fine. And I cut down on my GAS!

black Ultimat. it's darker than the pic.

Anyone with the Tan cloth interior bought a Dashmat (ultimat)? Which color do you think would go the best...I'm thinking taupe by the website buy who can tell? Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 2004 Avalanche 1500 with Dark Charcoal interior. What color Dashmat should I order?

Thanks,

Frank

I had some spots where I had touched the dash and the paint came off attached to my finger over the summer... but I guess 120 degree weather will do that to paint.... (although my d%&ge did not have this problem) before buying my AV I looked at getting a used truck, and every GM truck (escalade/denali, 3/4 ton crew cabs.....) had the paint peeling of the dash.

took it into the dealer, and they had a repair guy come and fix it, covered under warrenty. I was not happy with the look of the fix, but said I will give it a month to bake evenly with the rest of the dash, and if I wa not satisfied at that point, then they would order and install a new dash under warrenty.

I bought a dash mat a week after the fix, and been too lazy to look to see how the repair looks now... plus the service advisor who made the agreement with me went back to work as a mechanic for the dealeship, and I have nothing in writing in regards to the agreement.

ftlee20723,

Almost all Dashmat have a color close enough to match.
My was a light charcoal color. I believe I remember a darker color.
Go somewhere where they have color swatch to compare. That's the best way.

I believe that my only two options are Smoke and Black. Looking at the pictures of the Smoke earlier in this thread, it looks like Smoke is going to be too light. On the other hand, black is probably going to be too dark.

Anyone with my color interior care to comment?

Thanks,

Frank

GreyAvalanche,

Thanks for the reply on the DashMat. How is the fit? How is the color match? I looked at GM-Parts Direct and did not see a dashmat for the Avalanche...

Thanks,

Frank

The only gases emitted inside my truck come from my rear end, or so my wife says.
