OK, after driving the AV around for a bit, I have one complaint. No dead pedal. I need a dead pedal. Anyone know if there is an aftermarket one for the AV?

Agreed - after driving sports cars before kids I got real use to having that left foot rest and the Avalanche doesn't have anything. Your other foot just kinda of rests on the floor, not very comfy...

I call it a fart pedal.. Stretch out left leg and press firmly on the dead pedal and it makes it so much more pleasant when you just gotta depressurize

never seen a dead pedal in an auto tranny, but I don't get around much I guess ?. . . . thought they were just there to encourage drivers not to rest their foot on the clutch pedal when not actually working the clutch, to minimize on clutch wear . . .

Ever vehicle I have owned (as far as I can remember) has had some sort of dead pedal. (auto and manual). I am so used to it now. with the leather seats, I kept finding myself sliding, and it would have been nice to brace against.

I'll add my vote for a dead pedal as well . . would add to the comfort on long trips.

Do we even have the room down there to add one if we wanted.....I hadn't even thought about it since I haven't driven any auto's with dead pedals...

these are nice pedals, but they need something to support them from behind. I have been thinking about making a template out of some really thin board, and then making a backing out of some heavy gauge sheet metal. find some carpet scraps that match, and walllaaa a dead pedal you can use to brace yourself.

It seems to me you could make one out of some type of material and then wrap it with your favorite carpet or antiskid, etc.

Bestop makes one already-I used to have a Wrangler and installed it on it. It takes about 10 minutes to install. The only problem with the dead pedal in the AV is where to put it-the parking brake takes up the space where you would normally install it.

All C5 (1997 - current) Corvettes have dead pedals... Auto or Stick. It's a true leg saver

This would be a great addition for long trips!!!
Which of you crafty guys is going to make these out of alluminium diamond plate and offer them to the the club at a great price??? :0:

This thread hasn't been used in a while but it is something I noticed right away (coming from a car that had one). Has anybody found a solution for this? Thanks in advance.

What vehicles have you owned with a dead pedal? I've never heard of one either.

Our 98 Chevy Venture (automatic) had one, my 99 TransAm (manual) has one.

I'm thinking that most of our vehicles have had them. This is the first thing we noticed when we got our Avy...no left foot rest! :)

I need to install a dead pedal for my right foot for when I have cruise control set.

I've never seen a vehicle with a dead pedal. ???

You guys haven't been using the emergency-brake pedal, to rest your foot against, have you?

This might explain the e-brake wearing out, prematurely. >:D

1983 Datsun 280ZX Turbo 5spd (which I still have, with 250K miles and running strong (y), though exactly not like new :E:) has a dead pedal.

In the ZX, the emergency brake isn't a pedal, it is a hand lever (behind and on the passenger side of the gearshift lever). So using it as a dead pedal would require contortionistic acrobatics that I am indubitably disinclined to undertake, particularly while driving.

Stop usin' dem big werds. >:D

What's a werd (or a yut [from MY COUSIN VINNIE])?

Kindly elucidate.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the dead peddle is not an actual peddle hanging under the dash. It is a rubber pad that is mounted directly to the floor on the far left of the firewall. If this is the case I do remember having one in my Grand Am.
I never really noticed that the Av didn't have one, but now that you guys mentioned it, it is going to drive me crazy. :2:
