Any tips on how to remove the obnoxious dealer emblems on my AV. I have the raised hard emblem that looks like a giant refrigerator magnet.

I haven't had the refridgerator magnet type, but I have had the flat vinyl ones (which they insist to put back on after my first service visit, they now have a big note in their system that if they do it again my car is getting detailed for free >:D) I used a hairdryer and a plastic spatula to take mine off. The hotter you get the decals the better, make sure you heat it from all angles. Do them one by one, start at one corner and they should come off. Any residue left over take off with GooGone or something like it and then rewax the entire area because the Goo Gone takes the wax right off too. Hope that helps

YEa, GooGone is good, WD 40 will remove the glue also.

I would agree w/Topperge with a slightly different approach.
Take the hairdryer (set on medium heat) and go back and forth over the dealer decal a few times, I would then take some fishing line or dental floss and run it behind the decal slowly to start lifting the decal up, you may have to reheat the decal again to finish removing it. Remove any residue by spraying some WD40 or Goo be gone on a clean towel and then re-wax the area.
Hope this helps

Search for it,.......it has been dsicussed...

If not try www.autopia.org they have a thread saved for removing badging........

I have some experience with this...I removed all the emblems and decals from my Sonoma. I had to take of the large magnet type "GMC" and "Sonoma" from the tailgate.

This isn't to hard and the hair dryer is involved, but not initially. Take a flat head screw driver and very carefully start to bring the emblem away from the truck. This is asmuming that there is an adhesive wall underneath the logo. What you want to do is loosen the seal of the adhesive. Once you getting it moving, go ahead and yank it off. Then bring in the hair dryer. Warm up the remaining adhesive and it should peel off. Take some rubbing alcohol, goof off, or whatever you use for tar, bugs, etc and polish the stickiness off.

Screwdriver? Egads!

If it is a "emblem" type dealer decal..

Take a good length of dental floss and made a "garrote" type device. Slip the dental floss behind and saw back and forthcutting the foam off.

Use "Goo Gone" or WD-40 to remove the rest of the foam and residue.

What TNAV03 said! I did that with mine (no hair dryer, though). I also just removed a glass mount antenna from another truck using the same technique. Remember to wear heavy leather gloves or wrap the fishing line around something to pull it with otherwise your fingers might come off first!

Be carefull not to scratch the clear coat. Heating it up with a hair dryer may help loosen the adhesive.

I know this is too late now, but I will never ever agree to purchase a vehicle from a dealer who is not willing to sell me the vehicle minus their advertisements, preferably before they have the chance to stick them on in the first place.

Good luck.

Absolutely, when faced with a quarter inch of thick adhesive. I was able to stick the screwdriver into the adhesive without having to worry about it scratching because it was so thick. I was assuming that fp7937 was faced with the same thickness. Here's the finished product, No scratches!
