I just want to see if there are any members with EXT's in the club I almost tagged an EXT here in La Grande

Hey avalance, just out of curiousity..I was checking out your picturetrail, what wheel and tire combo are you running on your monster?.....

On a business trip to Indianapolis this past week I counted only three AV's all week. All were in Carmel, picture that!!

Anyway I saw the most beautiful Ext I have ever seen. It was parked at the Caddy dealer on Meridian St. near I-465. The Ext was black with silver accents down the sides. During the week I saw several people test driving it but when I left nobody had given it a new home. What a shame.

If you're in Indy, take it for a test drive or just take a look!!!

The majority of the EXT's I've seen in the area have all been black...with nice sets of chrome wheels....and I'm not talken Caddy option wheels..I'm talkin' aftermarket one's ...very sharp...it is true what they say...wheel/tires really do change the overall look of a vehicle....

there are some styling cues of the EXT that i like. the overall vehicle though i think is not practical. that is why i have taken the liberty of making some of the EXT characteristics part of my AV. >:D

The EXT bug has been biting at me.

I have a buyer lined up for the Av, getting prepared to be in the postion to put it back to stock if this happens, wheels/tires, exhaust, intake, etc...

With gas prices going through the roof it shouldn't be too long before Cadillac comes out with some good incentives to sell all those big gas guzzling EXT's collecting dust on their lots.

The only hold back I have is I really like my Av. At 17 months it's outlived 3 out of the last 4 vechicles I've owned, and Avalanche people do have allot of fun...

I sold my sweet sweet 6-speed Legend coupe for a 5-speed Lexus coupe (piece of sh#&) a few years ago, have regretted it ever since. Just dont want to have the same feelings if I dump the Av.

Maybe something will kill this EXT bug nawing at me....
"Out Of The Blue"

WW

I picked up a 2002 EXT in December. Dealer was giving them away and I got a great price

LOVE IT!!!!!

It has been outstanding in snow and on ice. Rides like a Cadillac. I highly reccomend it if you can swing it. ;D

I bought a 2003 EXT last October. I love it. It does great for me and the family. I find myself looking for excuses for road trips. I have about 8K miles on it already.
I actually have taken it offroad and it does great. I won't take it into anything too rough, but have bottomed out the differential at a couple of points and it has performed like a champ. I am concerned that the AWD does not perform as well as true 4x4, and you really can't put a locker on the differentials.
It does great for trips to the snow and mountains! The "Stabillitrak" seems to work great for wet and icy conditions. One drawback is that it can not be towed on any of its wheels (due to AWD). I don't have an RV to tow it behind yet, but I may later. It makes a great car for road trips.

Whoa! I Didn't notice you are a new member . . . how rude of me.

Welcome To The Club m0eman

As of today My black 2002 Av is history and a new 2003 Out of the Blue EXT has replaced it.

I have an AV and love it - have been giving thought to trading the wifes suburban for an EXT - just gotta decide if I get one which vehicle my wife will drive!? ;) :D ;D

Ive been wanting to ask this question, This seems to be a good place to ask it... Why in the heck are all these people trying to turn there AVS into EXT's ??? Why not just buy an EXT to begin with?

Why would anyone pay an extra $20 grand (come on, it's actually about 10 grand more than the 2500 with comparable power). Mods!!! Clean, factory installed (and warrantied). A very clean look, both inside and out. Four of the five vehicles I have owned in my life have been 4WD trucks. I did not care for the body-cladding on the Avalanches offered, when I bought my truck, but I loved the Avalanche concept. I could easily predict that I would spend more than $10K in upgrades when buying an Avalanche, and did not want to go the non-OEM (non-warranty) route. I use it as a truck (I'll use my Ranger for the REALLY dirty work). The EXT makes a great family wagon, and the ooh's and aah's are icing on the cake. I've received laudatory comments from everyone from teenagers to 80yr old veterans. On a less significant note, I like Cadillac. I like their history, and I like the status symbol. I plan to keep this truck forever. It is destined to be a classic. Someday, I will give "Grandpa's old Cadillac" to my future grandkids. I can only hope that they will enjoy and respect it as much as I do. I bought it one year ago this month, and believe that it is the right vehicle for me at this place and time.

Whenever we pass an EXT, my wife says she wants one! Somehow I imagine an EXT in our future. Who needs college funds for the kids ayway? ;D

i think the EXT is sweet. i am into automobiles. i do much reading about them. i also do work on the side for family and friends. when you are into cars like i am it is hard to justify a little more paint on the sides, leather seats, power folding mirrors, and HID's for close to $20k more than what i paid for my truck.
sure, i am familiar with the Cadillac's history. growing up my grandparents always had a Caddy or Lincoln in the driveway. this has made me appreciate their status as well. however, now that i know a little something about cars they need to do something a little more drastic to make me spend that much more money on a truck that is essentially the same.
i am not bashing Cadillac. they do have a niche. what i just stated above can go for just about every car manufacturer out there nowadays. Ford and Jaguar. Ford and Land Rover. Toyota and Lexus. Honda and Acura. the list goes on. i guess it's all about what you want, what you can afford (most important), what you need it for.
in closing i will say that the Ext is still awesome. no matter what i say about it. i have had the oppurtunity to drive one. ;D but, i need the extra money spent a month to mod and eat.
your ride is cool dude. but, you know that already. ;D :B:

I now have one. Bout 6 weeks ago approx. Silver Sand color. I put 22 inch Hels Skids on it and Sat bought spinners for it. I hope to have pics later this week as it has been raining here.

I  the EXT but I had to look at my own practical needs. I was really having a tough time deciding, drove several Av's and Ext's. The features and the little things were really considered in the EXT. (Except that analog clock. :9:) I loved the HID's, the back-up alerter, the 6.0L LQ9 eng, and the available Nav system.
But I wanted to be too rough and tumble for a cuuusssh truck.. `Still considered it until the facts hit me about the AWD. It was what Moeman commented on. I plan to retire in a few years and get a Diesel pusher motor coach. The 4X4 Av can be towed in Xfer case neutral!
I wonder if an AWD to 4X4 conversion would have been easier than my nav system was ???
