Door Ding Help

I just received my first door ding. :7: It is on the passenger side front door above the cladding (obviously) about an inch in from the edge. It is n't too bad....the paint isn't chipped or broken....but there is a ding about 1/4 inch in diameter.
I took my Avy to a body shop to get an estimate to get it fixed. I figured they could just take off the door panel and bump it out a tad. Wrong! Basically, they said they would need to put a tiny spot weld in the ding, fill it, then paint and clear coat BOTH doors for a total cost around $450. Ridiculous! :8:
I am looking for any advice on cheaper alternatives that I can possibly do myself.

I'd get another Estimate. Or 2 or 3 Whats' this paint and clear BOTH Doors? That seems like total BS to me.

Have you tried a place like Carsmetics or other minor dent repair place? I had a ding like that and they heated and rolled it out with a tool that fits down the window slot area. There was no damage to the paint at all, just a quarter size indentation. Total cost: $75. It looks great!

A pic would help..........

I have one of those also and have found a guy name Dent Wizard that is going to fix it tomorrow for $75. Says it will take about five minutes. You need to look around and find someone else.

:B:
Good info
I hate the time of Ding vill
I did not paint my cladding due to that fact
A lot of AV's in Hawaii now
Maybe we will get some perks
Thanx

Try Dent Wizard - I've used them on my other cars and I've had great success. I'm extremely picky - and I was completely satisfied.

Of course, the work's going to depend upon the indendent franchisee - suggest you either ask your dealership (or better yet, call a Mercedes or Porsche dealership and ask them which ding-removal service they use).

As an aside, they charge you by the ding and - if you have more dings in a panel, the cost/ding drops.

I have no affiliation w/Dent Wizard.

Good luck,

Frank
