Double Vision

For several weeks I've been trying to decide whether to have my eyes checked or my AV. In my driver's side mirror I definitely see double, maybe even triple, vision. The mirror has defrost, auto-dimming and I added a stick-on SUV blind spot mirror. I don't usually see a whole vehicle as a double, but I do see two or three sets of lights or blinkers sometimes. Anyone else experience this?

I have noticed the same thing when I first got my AV but it seems to have lessend or I just got use to it.

Mine too. I think it has something to do with the self-dimming feature. If no one else has this problem I better ask the dealer about it. I have gotten use to it.

I though it was just me. Definately has distortion espesial irritating at night.

Self dimming mirrors? Really?

Here I had it 3 weeks and never noticed. Of course I don't drive at night.

I'm like Invested, I noticed it when I first got my Av but must have gotten used to it because it doesn't bother me now. Was told it was because of the self-dimming feature.

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one. Thanks for all the quick replies. Now I'll take this issue to my dealer. I like the self dimming feature, but I think it could be a safety hazard if I have to look two or three times to make sure what I'm seeing is right. I called the dealer and spoke with several people including their resident service expert before I ever put on that stick-on mirror since I wasn't sure if it would affect the defrost or dimming feature. I'm pretty sure that my first visit to the dealer with this problem they are probably going to contribute this issue to having placed that stick-on mirror there. Anyone know how I can get that stick-on mirror off without hurting my AV's mirror.

If I'm not mistaken, the self dimming outside mirrors come with the convenience package that includes On-Star and auto climate controls. All Av's have self dimming inside mirrors - but the outside ones are only included in the option package.

Didn't want On-Star - thus no self dimming outside mirror. Don't think the non self dimming mirror has this issue - or at least I haven't noticed it in many hours of night time driving.

I've noticed I have this double vision too. I found adjusting the mirror until the lights line up will get rid of it, but then i cant see behind me too well. has anyone decided if this is a defect or normal?

I guess I do not notice it that much..

Also how do you all have your side mirrors aimed? I have them so I cannot see the side of my truckjust beyond that spot so I cansee into the blind spot better....

If I lean towards them I can then see the side...

I had this problem, and took it in to the dealer, and they ordered a new mirror to replace it. It was black, so needed to be painted, and the "symbol" is not on the mirror. But MUCH better feedback from the mirror now when dimmed.

I have this problem but not in my Av but in my wife's TrailBlazer. Anytime there is oncoming traffic with their lights on, I see headlights and a second set of lights above the "real" headlights. It is very annoying and I would like to know what can be done to correct it.

Take it back Jamie. This exact same thing was happening, and I hated it. I did not get any flack from my dealer. He just said he couldn't see it, so he ordered a new mirror. I will not put up with something on a $30k to $40k vehicle! Period.

But I am not seeing it in the mirrors, I am seeing it looking through the front windscreen! DO you think they will really replace the windscreen?

Yep. Not when looking straight forward but when looking through the window just to the right of the bend in the windshield all the way to the A-pillar to the driver's left. Wife doesn't notice it and she will be it's primary driver.

I notice it to. It's all related to the angle that your are viewing it. If you are tall, (I'm 6'1") and because of they are looking down at the mirror from a higher angle you will see it.

If you are shorter (I hunched down once as an experiment) you won't see it. Seems to be a prizmatic effect when viewing images at a hight angle.

I've gotten used to it. Normally you only glance at the mirror anyway while driving. It's not like one stares at it. I don't think it's that big of a deal.

The self dimming feature more then makes up for this little annoyance.

Personally what I find a biger annoyance is the fact that I can't put this seat down anymore. First truck I've owned with these fully loaded seats and they are much taller then standard seats.

My line of sight is just about where the bottom of the windshield tinting is as a result. ;)
