Driver rear view mirror double vision

I did a search and found nothing, so I am posting.....


I while back my dad and I noticed that the driver side rear view mirror we were seeing double.

double cars durring the day and at night it was a nightmare it was like 1000 lights

So we went to the dealer and the service manager was looking at us like we were insane as we were trying to explain to him what we were experiencing. As we were explaining a car pulled up behind us with its lights on and the Manager saw what we were talking about.

They replaced the mirror and that was the end of it .

I was just wondering if anybody else experianced this or was it just a fluke

probably the nite time dimming thing broke...and some have gotten that fixed.....kinda hard to search for it becuase if you enter mirror or driver mirror I bet 1000 posts would come up....

I had this problem on my '02 - it is caused by the auto-dimming feature separating from the interior of the mirror surface. The only fix is to replace the whole unit, as far as I could determine. Since it was that way when I bought the '02,my best guess is this is casued by an impact to the mirror housing or a defect in the manufacturing.

Very interesting! I too have this problem and just thought it was a crappy design. I get the double vision even during the day sometimes! My dad has a Park Avenue and it looks perfect when the dimming mode is turned on. I just thought it was a cheaper mirror. Off to the dealer I go...
