Hey guys,

I am back, I was sent overseas with my job for a couple of months and I have missed talking with you all.

My driver side rear view mirror is vibration even at low speeds. I added the GM Bug deflector and only drove it for week when I had the leave, now that I am back and driving my baby just because I missed it, I have noticed the viberation

Any thoughts would be most welcome.

I had the same problem on the passengers side and the dealer replaced the mirror assembly, took less than 30 minutes. The problem was that one of the three attachment points holding the mirror to the moving gible came lose (glued to the mount), there's no way it can be repaired by the dealer. You only hope that the replacement mirror comes in the same color as your vehicle, I was lucky, otherwise they must match the paint, bummer

The problem may be due to the bug deflector. They are known to cause the mirrors to shake due to the change in air flow.

I have the same problem. I have the GM kit with the bud deflector, window covers and splash guards. Before I mounted them I would get no mirror vibration. Now both drivers and passengers mirrors (glass only) shake so bad I can't make out the kind of vehicle that is behind me! I like the looks and functionality so if you know of any fixes or if I should take it to the dealer let me know.

THanks

Small vibrations in the mirrors seem to be the norm with bug deflectors. However, if you are seeing large movements in your mirrors, then there is something broken internally. My driver's side mirror shakes so bad that it has become effectively unsuable. If yours shakes this bad, then its time to go the dealer....

Steelheadchaser,

I performed the taping when I installed the deflector, so that is not it. Well I had to go see the dealer anyways.

After I installed the double sided tape (using Steps recommended from March 2002 fix) and re-installed the bra I did notice the side mirrors "twitching" at highway speeds.

Any fixes?

Steelheadchaser... first of all my heartfelt congratulations for your handling of all our, sometimes dumb questions....but now there is another one.
Bought my AV a few weeks ago weeks ago( built on 5/2/02) but I did'nt find your great Forum but 2 days before a trip to Forida, read problem with vibrations due to various bug deflectors and spent 6 hours watching rear view mirror and listening to any possible noise from the windshield ( I have installed a BUGFLECTOR II by AutoVentShade). After a quick trip to the chiropractor to take care of my neck here my questions. Since I did not experience any of the aforementioned problems, you think I should start having them after a few K's miles? the problem was fixed by GM in the latest productions AV's? or Bugflector II has a better design? I would like to know someone that does'nt have any problem.
Sorry if I was too verbose.......age has something to do with it!!!

I noticed that my driver side mirror vibrates a little when I have the music at a certain level, especially those with a strong bass.

Did notice it when Metallica is cranked

Good questions Catalina. My guess is that if you don't have any problems now you are probably ok. I haven't heard of any changes to the Av. If you develop any problems you can always install the foam tape. My WeatherTech deflector is quiet and didn't affect the mirrors. It is very low profile however without the up-turned lip that many of the other brands have. It probably doesn't deflect the bugs and rocks as well, but my main purpose in purchasing it was to protect the leading edge of my hood.
Hope you enjoy your Av and the club as much as I am!
