I got the Four Wheeler Mag. today and they made a Duramax Suburban in the artical "Bill Armstrong" the guy who did the convert. Says "My next project is a Duramax Avalanche" I will see if I can find the artical online.

i think i read a thread somewhere on here about GM putting the duramax in the AV on the '06. if they do, i will buy. you might want to browse around and try to find it.

I was told the Allison transmission was too big for the Avalanche package. That is why they haven't built it. I would definately trade up to that. Hope GM engineers are listening.

Why does it have to be a 2500? I'd be interested in a 1500 with the Duramax! If it's '06 I guess it would have the new body style.
FYI- The 2500 comes with an allison tranny. I'd like the Duramax, but I can't see spending the extra $5k on it...

Yeah on a loaded AV your looking at a sticker of around 50,000 then.Not worth it unless you plan on keeping it for 15 years.

Nope. Only the 2500/3500 diesel Siverado has the Allison.

Both the Duramax and the 8.1 have the Allison in the 2500HD and 3500.
