Yesterday when I backed out of the driveway, in a hurry, I put it in drive and started to go.
Then I noticed that my transmission selection lights went out (you know, drive, Park, Reverse, etc...)
So I pulled over and put it in park. Put it back in Drive and they came on.
So this morning my wife takes the "Punisher" (my AV) to the grocery store. Everything is fine, until she leaves the store. Then the lights go out again, my warning light come on (emergency brake, battery, etc...). And, now the "Service Engine Soon" light is on. The others have since gone off.
I am at 35, 825 miles. Is this something that happens just before the warranty expires, so that you go in for the 36k mile check up. Or does it sound like I just need a new battery?
I'm starting a new job tomorrow (after looking for 2 years), and I don't want to have trouble on my way to work.
Any thought?
Maybe just a new battery?
My Alt. (Battery) gauge on the dash reads that it's fine.
Help.

Rob

Just guessing but it sure sounds like a ground problem. Lose the ground connection and all the warning lights come on, it connects and everything returns to normal. If it was me I would waste no time getting to the dealer who likely has the equipment to locate this sort of thing.

with the current mileage being under 36k miles i would not hesitate to take it to the dealer. i would not waste time trying to troubleshoot being so close to the end of your warranty. just my $.02.

I've had warranty work up to 60000Mi on my S-10; all because it was documented (A little help due to an old recall too).
See if the dealer can read in any recorded error codes. Most of them have event recorders too..If it's throwing codes... Good luck!

My biggest concern is that I start anew job tomorrow. I don't want any issues on my way to work.
I'll drop the AV off after work.
Hope that it's just the battery or a ground, or alternator or something.
Don't need any major issues right now.

I hope it doesn't either! Especially if your new boss is a phord owner!

could bew the ignition switch as some with this problem have reported it being an ignition switch...

Good luck

Why do you think it could be the battery? I wouldn't think so. Good luck, and let us know.

And good luck with your new job (y)

do NOT go over 36k without some kind of documentation. And don't think the dealer might 'ditch' the docs. Save them...they will help you later.

Unless you like paying out 2k for repairs? :p

I accepted an offer last Thursday.
I started my new job today.
Director of Marketing for Eastwood Homes in Charlotte, NC (Panther-town, USA).
Lovin' it so far.
Thanks for asking.

Don't walk - RUN to your dealer before 36K miles!

Mine did pretty much the same thing, but the trans also got stuck in third gear. The dealer replaced the ignition switch and all is well.

Turned out to be a faulty ignition switch.
All's better now ;D

Dayum I was right!!!

Glad you driving again!

SOUNDS LIKE A DEFINITE PROBLEM IN YOUR LIGHTING CIRCUIT. REMEMBER THE BATTERIES ONLY JOB IS TO GET YOUR ENGINE STARTED, ONCE IT DOES THE ALTERNATOR HANDLES THE ELECTRICAL LOAD OF THE VEHICLE. IF THE VOLTMETER ON THE DASH IS READING NORMAL,(13 TO ABOUT 16 OR SO) THE ALTERNATOR IS DOING IT'S JOB OF KEEPING A CHARGE ON THE BATTERY. YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK THE VEHICLE FOR CODES OR GET THE DEALER TO CHECK THEM FOR YOU!!
