Empty Spot Under OnStar

Does anyone know what the 2 plastic fillers are under the OnStar buttons. Is there an option that I do not have? Or is this on everyone's?

The one on the right is where they should have put the air bag cutoff if any of the engineers had kids. The one on the left is for the AUX lights if you have a 2500 and the snow plow RPO - thats it, otherwise you can use them for other switches. ;D

I thought the one on the right is where they installed the parachute deployment button when you equip a 2500 with a supercharger!

Actually the one on the left is where the "catastrophic event" light from the Whipple is mounted - it has a little sign above it that says "If this light goes on, reduce RPM immediately, ...., bend over and kiss your a$$ goodbye". The last part is to get you below the cylinders as they come up through the hood.

I am going to remember all these cheap shots as you guys step up to the bar! ;D

Oh, now... that wasn't a cheap shot! That was a gesture of pure envy!!!

And speaking of bar, I wonder what kind of aftermarket package Jason could come up with to address such a required camping amenity.

It would require:
1. Power for lighting.
2. Power for cooling.
3. Built in blender (margaritas)
4. Servo driven lockable doors
5. Accessibility from within the AV tent.
6. Accessibility from the campfire.
7. Heat for morning coffee.

(The Cadillac EXT version might even have its own icemaker, coffee grinder, and special storage for those little daqueri umbrellas!) ;D ;D ;D

Hey Gan....don't forget the driver and passenger side eject.... ;D

Yep, one of them is for AirBag cut-off. Got my NTSB approval in the mail yesterday. Going down to the dealer to get it installed next week.

teking, what did the dealer quote you on that? just curious. Mine came back with a $500 number

I have the NHTSA approval letter in the glove box and the Chevy approved install about to happen, only I am paying myself the $500 smackers . . . .

Dont forget about the Front Quarter Gate. You know the gate that you put up when your Mother In Law is yelling at you to close the Sun Roof or how dumb their daughter was for marrying a guy who drives an Avalache

Hmmmm ... I didn't get one just scheduled the install. $500.00!!!!! I assume you are doing it yourself .. procedure?

at the risk of incurring the g-man's ire (he is against this mod, free country I am cool with that), there is another thread on this, advice is there along with consultation of Jason P's personal web site - in a nutshell the proceedure is get the switch (snaps right in you know where) get ahold of the proper plug for the back of the switch, (that's usually the biggest challenge) use wire taps and folow GM wiring diagram (available on the noted site) to tap into the correct wires, a few of which are on the SDM. I would also recommend obtaining the NHTSA letter to to validate the right to install the switch.

Furthermore, if you are not comfortable and confident around a car's wiring harness, pay the $$ because this is a safety-driven mod and ending up with a result different from what you intended could be fatal.:mad: :(

smarter people around here know how to make links look pretty, I do not

I only pointed out the concerns:

"This should only be done as a compromise for the situation - no responsible parent should have their small child ride in the front on a regular basis. Life is not perfect and this is the better of two evils."

If I had small children, I would probably have it installed.
:cautious:
