We have been there many times over the years, since one of my older brothers lives just south of Fredericksburg.? It is a beautiful place and fun for the whole family.? The hike to the top of either dome is fairly easy (More of a steep walk than a climb.).

For the more adventuresome try going thru the cave on the back side of the eastern dome (Right side if standing in the parking area.) (Tends to be very very dark and damp so good flashlights and a change of clothes are needed.).? The way thru the cave, created? thru cracks in the granite, is marked and in some places tight.? My 14 year old son and I have done it and had a great time.

Do not forget to stop at Cooper's, in Llano, for some of the best BBQ in the world.

great info, thanks for sharing!  I have done the climb myself once before and it was tough, but well worth the effort once I got to the top!

Hill Country Cupboard restaurant, in Johnson City, cooks up a great chicken fried steak.

Johnson City is at the 290 and 281 east of Fredericksburg and the restaurant is right there on that corner.

Good eats!

Now I have gone and done it.? All this talk about great food in Texas, this close to lunch time, has made me real hungry.? I know I did it to myself.

Living up here in Northern Illinois for the past two plus years sure makes a Texas bubba miss the good eats in that great state.

I and a few members know Johnson City VERY VERY well, we had our southern regional meet there a few years ago, I and another club member also met the local police and the DPS police there in Johnson City  (n)

This food talk is also making me wish it was lunch time already.

Ya'll sure missed out on a great time of year for this GTG.  Cool weather gives you a two fold advantage:  Less chance of running into any snakes and easier to climb the slight incline without breaking a sweat in that Texas heat.
