what the heck or what is a engine hour meter

It tells how many hours your engine has been running.

You could have 1000 miles on your AV, but your engine has run for 300hrs. That would show that it has been sitting around at idle A LOT.

I just stick the key in the ignition and hold down on the miles toggle by the speedo. After a couple of seconds the hours will come up.

No I ment to ask the question. What is a good reading to have miles vs hrs reading on our gauges?

I think you could confirm if a truck had a high number of highway miles or not. Couldn't you divide the numbers and get the average mile per hour? That would confirm or deny if the truck truly has a high number of highway miles or not.

I can access engine hours with the ignition secured. Just push, and hold the do-dad on the speedo.

THe higher your average speed the more it can infer you were driving highway miles versus city miles which could also infer less city miles so the AVY has less wear an tear....
