I know there are other threads on this, but I thought this was important. I noticed a couple more deletions today while showing an 04 Av to someone.... things the Average Joe wouldn't notice, especially if you've never seen an Av....

--Double sun visors DELETED
--Xenon 3rd brake light (for "instantaneous" on) REPLACED by incandescent.
--Work gloves (included with tire changing tools) DELETED.

Just thought y'all like to know. I probably wouldn't trade in my 03 now.

Here are some of the previously listed deletions for '04...
--Passenger-side cargo/top box light DELETED.
--Glove box light DELETED.
--Rear door courtesy lights DELETED.
--Front passenger door lock DELETED.
--Arrival Blue will be DELETED after December.
--Light Pewter Metallic DELETED.
--Yellow DELETED.

(more to be listed later).

My dealer told me today that Arrival Blue is also deleted as a color selection for 04!
It will no longer be available from the factory after December. Sunburst Orange Metallic will be available in January.

the biggest problem I saw was the deletion of the passenger cargo light....

the jack is housed in the passenger storage compartment...

the cargo light is going to be missing that side....

will have to buy one and install as a mod
or will have to mount a mag light in there.

anything to save a buck huh :6:

What's that?

I can only speak for my '03, but when you put your visor down, and swing it over to the side window, there is a second visor that will only swing down in the front. It is really handy on a winding road when the sun moves from side to front to side to front to side to front to side to front, etc.....

Hmmm, well, if this kind of stuff really matters, then I am going to have to disagree. At least on two of your three points. Maybe all three - but I don't think it's worth the trouble to pull the brake light cover to check the bulb to see if you are correct.

My '04 has the double sun visors. The work gloves are in the tire changing kit - right there for when I need them. Just checked on both of these.

I don't know about the 3rd-brake-light, but my 2004 Z71, WBH has double sun visors and work gloves in the tire change kit. Thanks for making me look ;) I was not aware that they were even supplied.

Well that really sucks that they are making so many changes. I do have to say though that I don't think that I have ever noticed the top box lights, I don't think that my 02' came with them. :cautious:

SO what is the TRUTH....?

Well, let's see. There are three of us that actually own 2004's that have the double visor, and the set of work gloves in the tire changing kit. There is one whose dealer apparently removed the tire changing kit (look for it again, mounted in the passenger side top box!). And I can't prove or disprove he's right about the light bulb in the third brake light, because I am not going to take it apart to see.

But I think Snow Trojan is definately wrong about the visor and the tire-changing gloves.

This is all petty stuff anyway. This kind of "look what you don't get" stuff is not going to keep someone from buying an Avalanche. Better brakes, more horsepower - that kind of stuff might get them to upgrade. And the ability to shed the cladding, if you prefer the WBH look.

Ok, gotta run. Done the Dawn wash, the clay bar, the Zaino wash, dry, and am about to start the first application of Z-5. ;D

Hmmm, here's a deletion that apparently happened on the 2004's that really makes me :8:. I even looked for it - twice, and can't find the darn thing. Apparently, I don't have the hole in the left wheel fender near the shock that the earlier versions have. So I'm not going to be able to do the fender plug mod. I feel cheated. ;)

Or maybe they deleted the hole in the fender for us WBH guys! ;D Now I've been descriminated against. I'm thinking Class Action here.

The top-box lights are the cargo lights inside the bed. They have transparent plastic on both sides of the light so that when the cargo lights are on they shine both into the bed and into the top-box compartments as well.

So sounds like the '04 AVy doesn't have the bed cargo light on the passenger side is what they're saying.

The difference between the third brake lights is, if you watch when the brakes are applied, the third one will come on 1/4 second before the normal two brake lights come on (xenon) with a very pronounced on ( I am sure we all have seen the busses with the led bulbs for the turn signals),....
If they come on at the same time, with a gentle increase in brightness, then they are incandescents.

This is caused by the nature of the incandescent bulbs the filliment gets hot and starts to glow,... brighter as the heat gets higher. Unlike the xenon.

Now, if you are confused,.....don't blame me,.....lol

In all honesty, the "factory" work gloves are not much to write home about. If GM asked me on where to save a dime, the hood light or work gloves, I'd tell them to keep the work gloves

Well, perhaps the work gloves and double-sunvisor deletions are mid-year model changes. Could happen... Or what option packages did you look at SnowTrojan? Maybe they are in a "power pack" now.

Or, maybe the Avys on ST's lot missed those lines at the factory. ;)

I didn't even know about the work gloves. Haven't had to change a tire yet. Got real good at it in my Silverado, tho. Z-71 package with offroad tires on that baby, too. Replaced all 4 tires at 5k miles 'cuz I was sick of getting flats every time I went up into the woods. But that was driving in the Cascade Mountains in Oregon where I swear Wilamette Industries used "tire killing shale" on a lot of their roads. I guess I wouldn't have to worry about it now since Wehrhauser bought WI and closed most of the friggin roads. :E:

But I digress, as I often do :p

I gotta go check out these gloves...

The General would cut the heat off in his mothers house if he was told it would save a dime per vehicle!!! :E: They are cheap azzbastages for sure.

But I do agree that the passenger door lock is usless. They deleted it on my 2000 C5 and it is something that is hardly ever used if at all.

When was the last time you stuck a key in the passenger door lock.

So this list of "New Options for 2004" looks a whole lot like the list for the 2003 models - only see the generator and the new exterior colors as being the changes between the list for 2003 and the list for 2004 - everything else listed was all included in the 2003 models or at least on mine they are there.

Also have the deleted speakers on the Bose system between the 2003 and 2004?? I have a 8 speaker system in my 2003 not a 6 speaker system??
