Hi All,
? ?Just wondering how many of you have swithced your stock exhaust system. ?Thanks.

Talio

Switched over to a 70 series flowmaster. Have really been happy without the interior resonance that i have had with the previous ones i have ran. Very quiet and you can just hear enough to know it is there.
Did not hurt my fuel mileage, but did not help either.
Seat of the pants dyno does not really show any increase in HP, It does seem to help on top end reach the reset speed limiter at 128 a little quicker, but off the line did not notice much...
zeeya.............

Replaced stock muffler with Flow Master 40 ...stock pipes every where else... >:D

Sounds Dayum FAST Too >:D

>:Dyeah i did the gibson dual extreme setup with side exits with 600 miles on the truck and i will say its the best exhaust out there!!!!!!

yeah, i went with a flowmaster 50 series delta flow. the tips are at the corners of the bumper, but at a downward angle. looks nice IMHO. you almost can't see them from the side.

I went with the Magnalflow muffler and tip group purchase. I'm very pleased with the results. ;D

Same here. ?Gotta LOVE those group buys!! ?When I first heard the Magnaflow, I couldn't hide the smiles?A mod worth doing.

MOD ON

I had the stock exhaust removed from the truck with about 40 miles on it. Drove from the dealer to the muffler shop. Got me a Magnaflow like I have on my Tahoe's and had on my Suburban.

Exhaust is the best money you will spend.

And a third nod to the group buy for the Magnaflow. Love the sound and look.

My first real performance mod and I like it

I replaced the stocker with the larger, stainless steel Magnaflow. I'm very happy with it.

I put on a stylin concepts, roll pan exhaust tip. It took a lot of guts to cut a big hole thru the cladding, the outer metal, and the inner fender metal. you dont see it from behind. .would like to go to twins someday, one on each side. picture attached what ya think??

What are the sizes of the exhaust through the port?

It would be nice to see a pix from the bottom to see how and where it went through >:D

I switched from stock to the Flows 40's. Loved it. a bit more power.

hey got_change, can't wait to meet up with you this weekend, I wanna do the side exhaust mod now.

very cool, I like it.

BTW all,,,

Anthony at www.bigexhaust.com gave us some really good prices on a couple cat-back kits...

For members, he quoted the following:

1. Flowmaster kit $330 shipped free...
2. Magnaflow 5.3 Suburban kit $305 plus shipping
3. Gibson 3" Single swept side $270 shipped free

The Suburban Magnaflow kit fits the AV ...

The FM , and Dynomax kit are the same part number for 5.3 Suburban OR 5.3 AV ... Both same application if kit fits '01 5.3 Suburban, it will fit AV 5.3 ...

I got the magnaflow & tip from the group buy also.

I really like the diffrence. It seems to be getting a little quieter now, either that, or I am used to it now ;D

I went with the Flow 70 series. I went with the 3 inch in, and duel 2 1/2s stight out the back. I kept going back and forth between the 50 and the 70. After talking to the Flow tech several times he convinced me to go the 70. We use the Av to go just about everywhere as the family, and I didn't want to beat up my sons hearing already.

I still have the stock pipes and put on a higher flow muffler - like the sound :)

From listening to your AV on the cruise, I'd say your exhaust sounds GREAT too (y). Too bad our AV will never sound like that. I still love the sound of the stock exhaust but it's just really quiet. And to think GM is looking for ways to make it quieter .

yah too many people probably complain about the noise because they have their nice quiet cars

to gandolphxx, regarding, roll pan exhaust tip installation. posted earlier on this topic by got change.. thepipe coming in is the same size as the factory pipe. the hydroformed "shell leads in to the 2 outlets, oval tips 3 1/4x2 1/2. the oval ring that bolts to the body wont ever get hot enough to sizzle spit, but the two outlets will teach you a lesson if you touch them after a long run.

the stainless cleans up to a nice finish, and Ive run this set up for 15000 miles. pic from underneath attatched, and you can just see the brass spacers i used between the inner and outer fenders to be able to tighten the mounting bolts

just do it........you will like it!!!

I took my AV in today to have a magnaflow muffler and tip installed. I went with the aluminized version part #12589 and a 12" magnaflow stainless rolled tip 4". Of course I had to "Get On It!" on the way home...and it sounds good. I like it! (y)
Now...it has to pass the hubby's inspection....But I know he'll like it. Anyway I hope so! I got a great deal...$167 out the door.

edit: Just an update...The hubby likes it ALOT!
